Medical to the remote

This Blog is all about the work of God. Nothing we do is without the knowledge of our Father. He is the soul provider for everything we do.
We are Mordegai, Toinette, Suzaan, Gideon, and Anton Rossouw from Namibia-Africa. . This Blog is all about our lives here in Cambodia while Suzaan works in South Africa. We are real Farmers from Africa and we love life and what it has to offer and enjoy it day by day.

Mordegai travels to remote villages, doing much needed medical work , where no other doctors go, with local pastors.

Gideon is no longer with us but Anton will finish this year with Grade 12. .Toinette joins FGC Community Link Cambodia to the villages close by, teaching local children in an after school setting and also women about Health Issues in a village setting.

We consider us Asians as we live such a long time in Asia, eating rice as a staple food and not meat......

Our motto in life comes from a dear friend:

With common sense and God we
can accomplish a lot

Monday night prayers 6 Sept 2021

It’s Monday and we are already tired of this week. What happened that we need so much stress and troublesome issues?? Some days it seems a great idea to just run away but then I visit Noah and see the world from another perspective and stop worrying about our little problems. Compare to the rest of the world our little things are nothing.

We had our meeting with the immigration and after a few tense moments, we made up some more forms and give more prove of our application for new passports, etc. My friend at the agency that is helping is really trying their best at this and they know what it’s all about. One hilarious thing was that the officer could not understand that Gideon was not Filipino as he was born in the Philippines. He just could not understand why he got a Namibian passport. Ok, off we send some documentation of proof and hope that will work. Well, they let us know that they will work on it and so we are still waiting for the big phone call. Oh my, how long will take to get a visa? On top of it all, they charge us $30 for a late application and it is already with them for more than a month. Ok, no problem. Ok, by the way, Anton’s visa we have in hand.

The Namibian consulate contacted us, they were in lockdown, and say that they already send our applications to Namibia and expect it back before the end of the month. So at least something is getting done.

Schools here will most properly open soon and most of the children are vaccinated already. They are really trying to get vaccines for all children 12-17 years now and talk about even getting it to smaller kids. Currently, there are lots of cases but not so many deaths. A friend of mine wrote a really interesting piece on the situation here in Cambodia. Here it is:

Cambodia has some of the poorest medical care in the region (Southeast Asia). Vaccines are for saving lives when medical care cannot. Currently, Cambodia leads the region in vaccines. 95.71% of adults are vaccinated. 84.98% of children 12-17 including my kids are vaccinated. (Schools will re-open soon without fear). 70.21% of the entire national population is vaccinated (remember the "herd immunity". . . you're not there, but we are. So, what does that mean in terms of numbers. . . Here's the big one. 461 New daily cases (we run between 300-500 new cases a day, but hospitalizations are down) and 7 deaths (NATIONALLY). Occasionally, a vaccinated person dies of covid, like a doctor a couple days ago who has been exposed to covid every day for 18 months, but its almost all unvaccinated people who die and are hospitalized). Now compare to our lesser-vaccinated neighbors which we have porous borders with us: Thailand 13,988 new cases and 187 new deaths. (Thailand has 25.6% vaccine coverage: Thailand has some of the best health care regionally and is comparable to Western nations. Vietnam: 10.5% Vaccine Coverage. 24,442 new daily cases and 470 new daily deaths. This is horrific.)

Praise God that my brother Jean is doing better every day. He says it’s slow but he is making sure he will get over it. My mum and sister were there last weeks to visit and encourage him and celebrate mum’s and Jean’s birthday is at the same time. We had a bit of damp on our 27th Anniversary but we enjoyed the day with the boys and I went and bought lots of bread, ham, and cheese to spice up the day. When we stress we eat hahaha. We are looking forward to Anton’s 16th birthday tomorrow the 7th September. As they say, 16years old and have never been kissed. He said he only kissed the ground when he slammed his bike into the dirt.

Thank you very much for praying for us. We are so privileged to have so many people praying for us. We will keep you posted on all our visa and passport issues.

Love
