Good Evening,
It's raining outside and yes, I know, after 24 years
in tropical Asia, us Namibians, should be used to rain by now. But we grew up
with Days of Prayer where people would stop working and go to church to pray
for rain due to drought. Our hearts still fill with joy when we hear rain and
thunder, we still say Thank you Lord for your provision.
We watched a documentary on the life of Dr.
Livingstone last night. The night he
passed away, they found him on his knees beside his bed. He died while he was
praying, on his knees!
We had a dear friend and 2 more visitors from Phnom Pehn
for the past few days. The boys were very excited to see Uncle Manoj again and
had some good conversations with their Indian Uncle. There was lots of cooking,
of course, Spicy Coconut Chicken, Chicken Claypot Rice, Braai! (If you are a
Nambian you are not allowed to say BBQ).
We are thankful for all the encouragement and love shared the past few
days.
One of Twans's old students, BunKane, joined in on
the zoom meeting of our River of Life Fellowship meeting yesterday. So thankful that he could join in and be
reminded of Jesus and His Word again. Please pray for the students who accepted
the Lord in the past and went back to their old ways will come back and follow
Christ. Pray specifically for Park, Tana, Solidorn, and Bunhab.
Noak is doing well. She seems so much more at peace.
She always has some treat (biscuits or candy) that she wants Mordegai to give
to our boys. They go with Mordegai every Saturday morning. Anton plays some music
for her and she just loves it.
Praise the Lord that my brother Jean is at home. Continue
to pray for him as he has a long road to recovery.
Hello everyone. Just a note on being out of hospital and back
home. I was quite nervous last night for my first night outside the hospital's
safety bubble, so probably checked my oxygen levels 10 times through the night,
but overall it was stable. It's still
low, on average 85%, but the doctor warned me that it will be so initially and
as long as me and my body are fine with it, it is no problem. I have no problem with that, even at lower
levels like 80% after exertion, I was
able to cope well and recover quickly. I think after last night I will also be
able to relax more and the oxygen levels should systematically get better. It's a big difference in my head to just be
home, I'll definitely get better here much faster. It's also a big mindshift you have to
make. Even though you are “healthy” and
out of hospital, you are actually just a small step above bedridden. You have to plan everything carefully. From lying down to sitting upright in bed
with your legs over the side, you must first rest for a few minutes and catch
your breath. Make sure you do not have
to get up to get your clothes because it is a lot of extra effort. Put on your shirt, pull up your pants to
where you need to get up, then rest first.
Then you get up, pull up your pants and literally walk at a snail’s pace
while constantly concentrating on your breathing. For example, walk to the basin to brush
teeth, first rest at basin, then put my toothpaste on brush, then first rest,
then brush halfway, rest, finish brushing, rest, rinse mouth, get rest and
breathe properly, then move on. So you
have to plan everything in your head.
Quite another mindset. It will
only take time to get better, but it gets better every day.
Thanks for all the love and support,
hopefully we can see each other soon!
Love
Rossouw-clan
