We made it the 65 days of January are gone haha. The heat is slowly crawling back into Cambodia, I realize that by starting to sweat under a fan when I work. Went to Ratanakiri and froze in the night but it was beautiful to sleep in natural aircon for a change. It is amazing how quickly the landscape can change into brown and dust. Everywhere you see people starting to burn the grass away to make space for the land. Sad but we are in the burning season. Waking up in the mornings our town, Siem Reap is under a blanket of dust and smoke. Dust as they work on every possible road in Siem Reap at once.
Visit with my friend Samai in Ratanakiri and hang out with the beautiful Jarai and Kring tribal people. Samai can switch between 6 tribal languages but he says that he is so confused that he now speaks tribal to his wife. In the first Jarai village, we saw a lot of people from the church. Please pray for one lady that is very sick with systemic fungal infections as well as severe malnutrition. Gave her meds and Samai will keep an eye on her while he is nearby.
We had great fellowship with them all over some really interesting food. Never in my life would I think that this Farmer boy will ever eat some Moss from the pond. It was not bad. Seeing these people enjoy their local cuisine makes my heart so soft for them. God blessed me with a strong stomach that can handle everything except olives, hahaha. Luckily they do not eat it here……Fried fish with plain rice was the main dish.
Our 2nd outreach was in a Kring village. Met this pastor a long time ago. Such beautiful happy people. Wonder sometimes why the poor people are so happy?? They are sick but always have a smile on their faces and always make jokes with each other. Please pray for some people that were really sick in this village. Lack of good food makes that most of them are malnourished as well have lots of high blood due to all the salt they eat.
One girl, 13 years old is now getting seizures for 2 months already. Not really sure what is wrong but it can be a multitude of problems and we need to look into it. I suspect some Tapeworm in the brain but need to get her for a scan.
One uncle came with a broken leg that happened already in 2011. They fixed it for him but it never grew back and the screws and plates are still inside and it very painful. The hospital that I normally send people to is closed due to Covit. At least I could bandage it up for him that it is not flopping around.
I had some great fellowship with my friends Gordon and Bee over delicious food. Always nice meeting with like-minded people. It was a short but sweet time up in Ratanakiri but what a joy to see people so happy even if they have nothing. Continue to pray for Samai and Buntoon as they work hard to provide well for some villages. They are far away from home and cannot go home every week. I talked to Samai and we will make a way for them to go and visit their families back in Stung Treng. The sparkle in their eyes when they talk about their work in the tribal areas is addictive. Love these brothers of mine.
We pray for the Covit problems all around the world. Seems we do not get the end of it soon. We are very fortunate that there are only 25 sick people and zero deaths in Cambodia. We praise God for that and business is as usual here with no tourists but people are hopeful for the future and gear themselves. We are doing well and cannot complain, just the little of “getting old sickness” but we are still hanging in hahaha.
Love to you all
