Good evening to you all
Greetings from a very well-weathered Cambodia, haha if
you can say so. It is not that hot as it is frequently raining. I, for one,
love the rain. It is so important for the farmers as they prepare their lands
for planting rice and cassava. We are waiting still for the big rain to come as
the little reservoir near my house is not even full yet. We know we got enough rain
for the year when that lake is full.
The rain brings also a lot of illnesses like Dengue
and lots of coughs and colds for children. Our helper's husband is down with
Dengue and we all know that it is not that easy to get Dengue and just continue
with your work. It takes everything out of your body and you can be sick for
quite a while. Getting sick means money that you do not have. Going to the hospital
you need to pay for everything otherwise, nobody helps. Getting sick is another
form of getting poorer.
Pray for Marie, one of the staff of FGC. She is very
sick and went home but did not recover. Due to bad communication, nothing is
being done for her. If she goes to Thailand she can be helped but it costs
money or if she goes to Phnom Pehn it also costs a lot, so what to do? We are
willing to help but going over the heads of family is a no-go. Such a frustrating
thing to see a loved one fading away from negligence. I just hate things like
this. All we can do is just pray that God will intervene.
Poor Ovaltine is on the last mile home to heaven.
Toinette and the staff went there this afternoon and she said he is looking
really sick. Pray for lots of pain due to his illness.
Now that Ovaltine is not coming to church, there are literally
3 students and the rest are the staff of FGC. Anton and I went there yesterday
as Toinette was sharing in church. Sitting there I got a real appreciation for
the staff to faithfully come together every Sunday and present church in such a
beautiful way. Toinette told you about these 2 little sweet buttons. They are
most properly 11 years old and accepted Christ now. One was learning to play
guitar and the other girl was on the drums. Jun-Mar is teaching them to do
worship. Accepting Christ makes you smart. They are a joy to see. Another young
girl also recently accepted Jesus and Twans say that she never smiled and was always
alone with no friends. Now it is the opposite.
In the eyes of the world, this church does not look
like a big success. But believe me, there are no numbers to count here, we can
count the members on 1 hand but God is here. My encouragement to you tonight is
that we never need to think that caring for 1 or 2 is not the way to go, well
it is the way to go. Make disciples of them and they can make more disciples. If
you have a lot of people, good for you. There are no recipes, make the most of what
God is giving to you. Cambodia is a hard land for making disciples. I can show you
lots of small churches with only a handful of people but a faithful pastor.
That counts the same as a big church with thousands of people. Do not be discouraged,
God sees what you are doing and He will bless you.
But as for you, be strong and do not lose
courage, for there is reward for your work.” 2 Chronicles 15:7
Love to hear from you and great stories about making disciples
for Jesus.
