Good evening all
Who said that Mondays need to be blue?? Hmmm, I am a
firm believer of that haha. Well, this Monday turned out to be a real blessing.
I went this morning with Mon and Sarah from ROL church to visit an old couple
in distress. The uncle fell from the roof and hurt his back. He could still
walk after the fall and they went to the hospital. They said they could operate
but of course, they did not have any money so returned home. His condition deteriorated
and he became paralyzed. As for now, he
is just lying on his hard bed and his poor wife needs to look after him. I must
say she is doing a great job. Uncle’s bedsores are small compare to what I
already saw when things like this happens.
I could show them how to better the treatment by just explain
some things they do not know. It is so simple to treat these wounds. I was more
upset about the way they needed to live. On their land, there are 2 more houses
for the children. They could care less about mum and dad and they need to fend
for themselves. The more I see how they work with old people, the more I get
upset. For so many years’ mum and dad are good enough to provide for the
children but when they are old they are just pushed aside and given a small
room on the edge of the road to live there, no water and nothing. The anti says
she needs to go and ask for water from her children.
This is so wrong. My goodness, the Lord is giving it
to us right at the beginning of the Bible. “Honor (respect, obey, care for)
your father and your mother, so that your days may be prolonged in the land the
Lord your God gives you. Exodus 20:12. This is something we can teach here.
I am not saying they are not caring for their old but what you see is not supposed
to happen.
Please pray for Marie. She is one of the staff of FGC
here in Siem Reap. She is back in the hospital with water/puss on her lungs and
no further explanation about what is wrong. They just tell her that she needs
to go to Phnom Penh for this. Being a patient in the hospital can be
frustrating. Money is in short supply and you want to get out ASAP. We cannot
blame people for choosing to rather go home and wait things out. Please pray
that Marie and her family can be helped sooner than later.
As I am writing, I had to go and see what is wrong
with my truck. Twans went to a Bible study and the truck just did not want to
go. Well, I track them down on the highway coming towards home at a neck-breaking
speed of 5km/h. It did not cost much to see that the accelerator cable broke.
Now they are on their way only on idle. Fun Monday. Ok there the gate opens
now, man they made it hahaha. Always happens with Toinette.
Thanks again for praying for us all. We miss you guys and
hope to one day catch up with you all.
Love
Rossouw-clan
