Good evening from a nice and humid Cambodia.
We just finished the Khmer New Year celebrations here in Cambodia and believe me it was a party. They reckon that over 650 000 tourists were here in Siem Reap alone. Right over Cambodia celebrations were the order of the day for a straight 3 days. Water fighting was a fun event. We loaded the truck with water and Abraham’s kids and Anton got on the back. They were wet, to say the least, while Abraham and I sipped on coffee inside the truck in the aircon, hahaha. We missed Gideon as this was one of his favorite things to do.
Students and staff were spending time at home with their families. We encouraged those who are Christians to pray for opportunities to witness and share the gospel with their family members.
The Cambodian New Year, or the ‘Khmer’ New Year, is an occasion that has its roots in the history and culture of Cambodia. The locales believe that on this auspicious day, a new angel descends to take care of the world. https://nationaltoday.com/cambodian-new-year/
I am packing medicines for our outreach to the jungle on Thursday the 20th. Curtis and some friends from Water of Life, Phnom Pehn will join me. Please pray for safe travel as the guys need to drive their bikes and meet me halfway and then we will hit the dirt roads to the jungle. Pray for open hearts and minds as the Gospel will be preached together with some needed medicines. Please pray for wisdom and safety for each person coming for a check-up.
Pray for Anton as he is preparing for his exams in a week’s time. He is currently doing some old exam papers and reviewing them for the exam. Next week we will all go to Phnom Pehn and I will return after a few days. Twans and Anton will stay with the Chinese Church they stayed with last time.
Twans is asking for prayer for the ACTS students in KoukResay and Torpeang Tom village. Next week they will conduct a 4-day “camp”, where students will learn about more personal issues like identity, peer pressure, solving problems/conflict, and helping others. We hope this time will help the students to reflect, open up and share their struggles as well.
Love
