Medical to the remote

This Blog is all about the work of God. Nothing we do is without the knowledge of our Father. He is the soul provider for everything we do.
We are Mordegai, Toinette, Suzaan, Gideon, and Anton Rossouw from Namibia-Africa. . This Blog is all about our lives here in Cambodia while Suzaan works in South Africa. We are real Farmers from Africa and we love life and what it has to offer and enjoy it day by day.

Mordegai travels to remote villages, doing much needed medical work , where no other doctors go, with local pastors.

Gideon is no longer with us but Anton is studying in Malaysia. Toinette joins FGC Community Link Cambodia to the villages close by, teaching local children in an after school setting and also women about Health Issues in a village setting.

We consider us Asians as we live such a long time in Asia, eating rice as a staple food and not meat......

Our motto in life comes from a dear friend:

With common sense and God we
can accomplish a lot

Monday night prayers 12 October 2020

Wish I could send some of this beautiful rain back home to Namibia. We had constant rain now for 3 days and lots of the provinces experience heavy flooding and even some people died and crops died because of too much water. As a true Namibian from the Deep South, we are not familiar with praying against rain, but here it is natural to pray for the rain to stop for a while. I had to learn to do that as lots of people lose everything they own as some even their lives. We did not have much rain in several years now. One positive that can happen out of this is that the Tonle Sap river will reverse its flow and push lots of water into the Tonle Sap Lake, which was not full for a while now. That will bring enough fish again for people to survive on in the dry season.

I took a trip into the jungle with my friends, Manoj, Yong and Luke. As usual, I ride my small Viva, which broke several times and I had to ride it Kamikaze style, without front shocks, no brakes, broken exhaust pipe, and broken footrest. (We bind this up with rope, so I could rest my feet) Well, the water was a lot and lots of mud but that did not stop us from visiting the people we love so much. Everybody was happy that we came. This time of year so many people are sick with various illnesses. Could help people with lots of boils, Typhoid fever, high blood pressure, and just normal cough and colds.

We slept with our good friends next to the mountain and ate delicious Khmer noodles with them. You are not allowed to eat only a little bid as it is rude, so you need to be hungry when you come there but we had a sumptuous lunch at 4pm with some wild chicken and rice and we were so hungry that we literally had to pace ourselves. So much for a diet hahaha, not here. It is always such a blessing to come there after a long day’s drive and relax with such hospitable people. It is so nice and cool sleeping in the jungle as it is raining and it makes for such a nice sound on the metal roof, reminds me of our small house on the farm.

The next day I saw the anti with her little bag of medicines, I gave her, walking into the jungle to some people around and give them their share of some meds. It is truly a blessing to see the people helping each other. It was a brutal and fun ride through some deep water and back on the wet main road. Of course, I fixed the brakes on the bike but something else broke a few km’s out of town, fixed it and drove 2 km, and had to push it back in the rain, hmmm nice. Well got a small wire that was not working, electrics on this bike is almost non-existing but only a few wires. Well, we all got home safely, after 4 hours on a bus, which is the ultimate goal.

Toinette is pretty busy teaching at the children’s homes. The small muddy paths she needs to ride with the bike is not for the faint at heart. She meets such beautiful people and can experience closely how they struggle day to day. People here are so resilient towards life and always make a way to survive. One of her students is farming with small craps which she catches in the rice field and keeps them to breed at home. Some of the farm with frogs in this time as it is readily available in the rice fields. No food is wasted here. Continue to pray for FGC as they try and reach a very small amount of children at this time. We know to be faithful to even the only one that comes. Toinette’s mornings are for teaching Gideon. If I am at home, I need to bring Anton to school which is quite far but the bus is not allowed to go due to Covid.

Please pray for the following people:

Channa, our good friend from Phnom Pehn is sick with Typhoid. Pray for complete healing.

Scott Johnson in the States had pneumonia this time, please pray for complete healing as well.

Please pray for a friend Tara Ferguson. Their son Xander (25) is missing, please pray for him to be found. https://web.facebook.com/Alexander-Xander-Ferguson-105260318023831/

Please pray for another friend Liz and Christopher M. Alexandrou. Pray for their precious daughter Ellie. https://web.facebook.com/hashtag/ellieendeavors Please check this out and pray for this little one.

Apert Syndrome and viral colds equal no bueno.  For the last 6-7 days Ellie has been fighting some kind of viral infection.  Her sister and I actually have the same thing.  Good news, it’s not COVID-19 and her lungs are clear.  The snot and secretions is a whole other story.  Last night it became too much to handle in our home due to frequent apnea events and labored breathing occurring while she was sleeping.  We took her to the ER at CHOP and she was admitted for respiratory distress.  Please pray for this virus to continue to move quickly through her system, for answers around her obstructive sleep apnea & restrictive airway and plans for how we can manage this at home.  Watching this happen has created a lot of fear around sickness in our home as we approach this Fall and Winter season.  I want to put Ellie and our family in a bubble, which is not possible.  My heart is literally broken for Ellie and all these children have to go through.  Ellie however at times is still her smiley self.  We can’t wait for this to be over and have that back all the time.  #Pray4Ellie #EllieEndeavors #ApertsBeSeen

Thank you for praying for us all as families get an attack in the spiritual realm here on the field. Thank you for taking your precious time and stand in the gap for us.

Love
