Medical to the remote

This Blog is all about the work of God. Nothing we do is without the knowledge of our Father. He is the soul provider for everything we do.
We are Mordegai, Toinette, Suzaan, Gideon, and Anton Rossouw from Namibia-Africa. . This Blog is all about our lives here in Cambodia while Suzaan works in South Africa. We are real Farmers from Africa and we love life and what it has to offer and enjoy it day by day.

Mordegai travels to remote villages, doing much needed medical work , where no other doctors go, with local pastors.

Gideon is no longer with us but Anton is studying in Malaysia. Toinette joins FGC Community Link Cambodia to the villages close by, teaching local children in an after school setting and also women about Health Issues in a village setting.

We consider us Asians as we live such a long time in Asia, eating rice as a staple food and not meat......

Our motto in life comes from a dear friend:

With common sense and God we
can accomplish a lot

Monday night prayers 30 March 2020

Dear family and friends,
Were encouraged today being reminded of the 2 Emmaus travelers. They were talking about all that happened, confused and discouraged. Then after their encounter with Jesus, their hearts stirred, they quickly returned to Jerusalem, full of confidence and joy, telling others of their encounter with Jesus. “…..carried away from the hub of religious activity to a personal encounter with Jesus… and then back to Jerusalem, to the very community where it all began (Ruth Barton).

In this time we try to encourage and support our family in Cambodia. Keeping in touch through phone and giving a bit of financial support to those we know don’t have any income right now. Please pray for my friends that help me that has it a bit difficult. Fresh produce in the countryside is very expensive. Pray for Heang, Samai and John, and their families.  Our helper was wondering why we are at peace and not panicking and asked us to pray for her for the first time. Twans and the FGC staff are catching up on office work and were doing some training on classroom management and lesson planning.

At the beginning of this month Twans also traveled up north together with her friend, Petra to do teaching on Women’s Health during pregnancy and childbirth with a group of women from an Asian Outreach Cambodia project. They were a lovely special group of women who wants to learn more. It was a privilege to share with them and AOC.
Let’s pray for one another, not just saying we are praying but really doing it. Please pray for Toinette’s brother, Quintin, who is in the hospital with pneumonia and tested for covid-19. They are still waiting for the results.

We are making an effort to spend more time together and are thrilled to eat lunches at the table that never happens due to Anton being in school. Now that he is doing online school we are home and it makes this an occasion. We are still able to go for walks with the dogs, not sure how long that will be, but it’s good for keeping your sanity, just need to sit in our old crocodile pond afterward to cool down. (no crocodiles anymore) It is a good time to clean our house and throw stuff out which have been with us forever and we never used it. I am getting better every day making new picture frames and enjoy this time.

Illness effigies are popping up everywhere in the Cambodian countryside. Eerie and fascinating. They’re meant to fool the spirits into making the effigy sick instead of the household. With a virus spreading across the world, people in the countryside each craft their own rendition of a “death crow”, as my good friend calls them. Each one is more fascinating than the next. These local creations caught my eye. I thought I'd share. Chreav is a beautiful town just south of SR.

Some news from Cambodia:
Prime Minister Hun Sen said today that the government will convene a special meeting to work on a state of emergency draft on Friday before forwarding it to the National Assembly. In a press conference in Phnom Penh this morning, Mr Hun Sen said that the government needs a law on a state of emergency due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Even though our situation has not yet needed the country to be placed in a state of emergency, we need to prepare it as we cannot downplay it,” he added. “I would like to call on our people not to be worried too much about this law [state of emergency]. We still prioritise our people’ rights.”
Mr Hun Sen reiterated that the government will not close the markets, restaurants and small shops amid the COVID-19 pandemic. https://www.khmertimeskh.com/50707529/government-to-approve-a-state-of-emergency-draft-on-friday/

Thank you very much for your prayers. We pray that your lockdowns will be without any incidents. We pray for sanity with kids at home, tell me about it.
