Medical to the remote

This Blog is all about the work of God. Nothing we do is without the knowledge of our Father. He is the soul provider for everything we do.
We are Mordegai, Toinette, Suzaan, Gideon, and Anton Rossouw from Namibia-Africa. . This Blog is all about our lives here in Cambodia while Suzaan works in South Africa. We are real Farmers from Africa and we love life and what it has to offer and enjoy it day by day.

Mordegai travels to remote villages, doing much needed medical work , where no other doctors go, with local pastors.

Gideon is no longer with us but Anton is studying in Malaysia. Toinette joins FGC Community Link Cambodia to the villages close by, teaching local children in an after school setting and also women about Health Issues in a village setting.

We consider us Asians as we live such a long time in Asia, eating rice as a staple food and not meat......

Our motto in life comes from a dear friend:

With common sense and God we
can accomplish a lot

Monday night prayers 23 March 2020

We are living in real strange times as well as exciting times. Being in quarantine is not bad at all for us. At least we can have all of us at the table when we eat and that is nice. Anton is busy doing school online at Hope school and its tuff at times as they do not see their friends. At least they can see each other on the screen. Not sure how long this still will go on. Infected cases are slowly rising as more people get tested and due to not such strict travel bans here, we still have a lot of foreigners visiting that brings the virus.
Listening to my favorite guys, Duck Dynasty, Phil Robertson and his sons, to get more prepared for what is happening in a more not so serious way. These guys are rough and tuff but they are true to their beliefs in Christ. I love listening to them as they are so much like the guys where I come from. Everyone is concerned about the virus and that is all they want to talk about. It is a time for us to be nice to people and to try and do good to people all around us. My neighbor came over yesterday and he was just watching me work on some wood and we did some small talk about everything. I know he wanted to talk a bit as he is a real nice guy. We inspected the mango trees together for some honey and some ripe mangoes and he left with a bag full of mangoes.
Markets are still open but only the wet-markets where you buy food products. I went there this morning and see a lot of leftover veggies or fruit as the seller do not have a lot of customers. So now is the time to buy some “”off”” fruits and veggies and can it. They are too happy to sell it to you for cheap as they can also make some money. Bought 4kg carrots for $1 today and we will can it tomorrow. The other day I got a lot of apples for free that was a bit off and Toinette made some apple pie. Like Anton say:””we are suffering in quarantine.””

Please pray with us for Cambodia as they are also seeking their gods for protection.
Senior monks in Cambodia have advised Buddhist pagoda heads across the country to beat drums and recite prayers loudly together on the evening of March 23 to ward off Covid-19.The announcement by the Chief Monks of Cambodia on March 16 said that in order to take part in government efforts to tackle the virus, monks and Buddhist followers across the country should learn about the virus and practice good personal hygiene and food safety.
“Nationwide, pagoda’s [chief monks] should beat drums in unison and recite their prayers loudly in line with senior monk Anandatthera.

Here is the latest news on the virus count in the Kingdom.
The Ministry of Health on Sunday night confirmed another 31 cases of coronavirus infections, bringing the Kingdom’s total to 84 and it highest daily tally. There have been no fatalities thus far.
The latest cases were found in 29 French tourists and their two Cambodian tour guides in Sihanoukville, a day after two French tourists of the same group contracted the virus. The tourists, including 12 men and 17 women aged between 48 and 69, were among a total of 36 tourists visiting the coastal town. They arrived on March 18 and were due to leave on Saturday. All were staying at the Independence Hotel, which has since been quarantined, said provincial police chief Chuon Narin. “We have put the seven-storey hotel under strict quarantine,” he said in his report to higher authorities.
Meanwhile, Thai authorities are shutting all border checkpoints with Cambodia and has restricted foreigners from entering the country by air as of Friday to halt the spread of Covid-19. Thailand reported 188 new infections on Sunday, raising its total to 599 cases. In view of Thailand’s restrictions, a large number of Cambodian workers from there rushed to enter the Kingdom just before the borders were closed.
Ministry of Health spokesman Or Vandine could not be reached for comment. It remains unclear if those migrant workers are at risk of spreading the virus. Vandine issued a request to officials at all border checkpoints to closely monitor the returning workers’ health. She said all checkpoints must have a quarantine team, and all workers must fill out a health form. She told officials to instruct migrant workers to self-quarantine for 14 days.
“Please do whatever possible to make them understand the issue, and avoid spreading the disease to their families back home. Please pay high attention to this in order to avoid spreading more Covid-19 in Cambodia,” Vandine stressed.
In regards to the border, some checkpoints were closed last week, and the rest will be closed by Monday, said a Cambodian Embassy and Consulate document. While most checkpoints ban the travel of citizens and the transportation of goods, some will still allow goods to cross under strict conditions. An announcement from the Cambodian consulate office in Thailand’s Sa Kaeo province said Thai authorities announced the closure of all Thai-Cambodia checkpoints in its five provinces – Ubon Ratchathani, Sisaket, Buriram, Chanthaburi, and Trat.
All foreigners are also banned from entering Thailand by flight as of Friday, according to the announcement. One of the new restrictions requires all foreigners to have documents proving they are not infected with Covid-19. A certified medical letter dated no later than 72 hours before the plane’s departure is required to receive a boarding pass. Passengers must also have documented health insurance cover for at least $100,000 in medical expenses as well as any Covid-19-related expenses, according to the announcement.
Secretariat of Civil Aviation spokesman Sin Chan Sereyvutha said: “The conditions set [by Thailand] in restricting flights is like a travel ban. Thailand has technically not banned travel, but it has put conditions that effectively make it a travel ban.
“As for Cambodia, we don’t have any restrictions, except for passengers coming from countries we previously announced.”

We pray that this virus will stop asap and that the world can go back to normal soon. We pray peach for you all in this time and that there will not be any fear. The love of Christ can overshadow all our fears. Please keep in contact, now that most of you are at home in lockdown.
Love
