Medical to the remote

This Blog is all about the work of God. Nothing we do is without the knowledge of our Father. He is the soul provider for everything we do.
We are Mordegai, Toinette, Suzaan, Gideon, and Anton Rossouw from Namibia-Africa. . This Blog is all about our lives here in Cambodia while Suzaan works in South Africa. We are real Farmers from Africa and we love life and what it has to offer and enjoy it day by day.

Mordegai travels to remote villages, doing much needed medical work , where no other doctors go, with local pastors.

Gideon is no longer with us but Anton is studying in Malaysia. Toinette joins FGC Community Link Cambodia to the villages close by, teaching local children in an after school setting and also women about Health Issues in a village setting.

We consider us Asians as we live such a long time in Asia, eating rice as a staple food and not meat......

Our motto in life comes from a dear friend:

With common sense and God we
can accomplish a lot

Monday night prayers 16 March 2020

Not really sure what to write about tonight. We were so bombarded this week with Covid-19 news that I am feeling like a Virus at this stage. It seems that Cambodia is doing pretty ok with the virus around or maybe it due to the fact that only a few people get tested especially foreigners coming into the country. We still have all the flights from China but they ban some flights from the USA and European countries. Read a report about some foreigners complaining about being held hostage in a decapitated hotel because they were on a boat that had some people that were positive for the virus. Tensions will start to rise and I am not even surprised that they are angry. I am sure the government here does whatever they can do and there are not all the resources that other countries have, so people just need to deal with it, but for foreigners that have money, this is not acceptable. Wrong time wrong place, I guess. https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/world/2020/03/15/coronavirus-us-couple-limbo-after-being-forced-off-viking-cruise/5053446002/?fbclid=IwAR2KDvNlOEvG2ELHBu5WqHmXQMueB3o0NRdefuxa8kZjPFn4LSrJYWTRxUk

I went down to Kampong Tom and did a medical outreach with Heang and his family. There were not so many people as all of them are working on their farms. It was nice being out with the people again. Took a little trip to Heang’s farm to see his cashew plantation. It sure is hard to be a farmer these days. The weather is really hot and that makes the flowers dry and it just drops down, without making fruits.

The next day I went with fav uncle to Relose. Pastor Chu is normally not coming anymore as he does not want to ride a bike. But we were in the truck and we could go. The people were so glad we came and complained about why we did not come in such a long time. It was good to make contact with them again and will definitely go there more regularly. It is always great seeing the pastor sitting and chatting with people. That makes my heart pump with joy. It was so hot on the way back that I had to stop 2 times to fill up my overheated truck. Poor thing is getting old now.

Anton is doing well with his online school with Hope. We are so glad that Hope stepped up and do this online. Pretty good timing to test out something like this for future problems. We are definitely happy that he can continue his schooling this way. He even gets his PE that he needs to do every day. I see now that more countries are closing schools and that create big problems for some as a lot of parents are working while the children go to school. My sister and brother back home are in a situation like that now and grandma needs to help out. Please pray for grandma that need to look after 4 children. Luckily she has some help from 2 helpers in the house. Let us pray for our elderly people as they are more vulnerable than us younger generations for this virus.

Spend some time with Apo this afternoon and cleaned his wounds. It is looking very good and I am so impressed with his mum’s cleaning of the wound. His bedsore is almost half of what it was a month ago. Poor guy is just lying there in his bed and it’s so hot out there. Pray that his wounds will heal completely soon.

Toinette and Petra were out doing teaching with AOC in the village for some women. She was just telling me about the beautiful women she met in the village. One thing she does not like is traveling and she was pretty tired when she came back. Their classes with FGC also closed for now and that gives her some time to catch up on some other stuff that needs to be done around here.

We are trying to be good citizens and not spread the virus so I keep myself busy with lots of maintenance and some good old fashioned woodwork. I just love working with this beautiful hardwood they have here in Cambodia. We pray that this time will also pass like the other calamities we already faced in life. We pray that God will protect us for another day and that God will talk to each and every one of you what to do in this time of uncertainty. Let’s go out and be Light to a dark world.
Love
