Medical to the remote

This Blog is all about the work of God. Nothing we do is without the knowledge of our Father. He is the soul provider for everything we do.
We are Mordegai, Toinette, Suzaan, Gideon, and Anton Rossouw from Namibia-Africa. . This Blog is all about our lives here in Cambodia while Suzaan works in South Africa. We are real Farmers from Africa and we love life and what it has to offer and enjoy it day by day.

Mordegai travels to remote villages, doing much needed medical work , where no other doctors go, with local pastors.

Gideon is no longer with us but Anton will finish this year with Grade 12. .Toinette joins FGC Community Link Cambodia to the villages close by, teaching local children in an after school setting and also women about Health Issues in a village setting.

We consider us Asians as we live such a long time in Asia, eating rice as a staple food and not meat......

Our motto in life comes from a dear friend:

With common sense and God we
can accomplish a lot

Monday night prayers 30 July 2018

The Rossouws are still having a ball having holiday. It is time for us to go home in a week’s time, cannot wait to be home again, sorry mum!! Sitting here on the stoep in a col Swakopmund, after about 2 weeks of Oosweer ( the wind blow from the desert and its nice and hot in the middle of winter) and look at the sun goes down, is what Namibia is all about. We love nature and the way God created it makes us loving it. We are rounding up our visit here and will be here in Swakop just for 2 days more and then up to Windhoek for the final few days till we will be on the plane n 6th of August. Please pray for us as we need to pack and say our final goodbyes. You would think it will be easier after all these years, but it gets harder and harder every year.

Mordegai’s mum, Matra gave us a bit of a scare a week ago and we children had to make some sudden changes to accommodate ouma. We got her a small apartment in the capital where she is near good doctors and near my brother and sister. We still need to organise our little house in the country side but with the help of my little sister, nothing is impossible. We came together as a family and could visit and talk things over. Ouma is not out of the woods yet. She end up in hospital with a clot in the lungs and bad lung infection, now 2x in a row. Currently she is at my brother’s house in Whk and need to stay close to a doctor. Please pray for her as she needs to shift her head into another dimension of life as her need to be cared for. Too long on your own can be a problem when you are thrown into a situation like this. Pray as she makes hard and quick decision.

Please pray for my good friend Deon as he is struggling with his 4th week of therapy. Currently he is in a lot of pain and the irritation in his throat is worse because of the radiation. Pray for him and his family as they are riding out this difficult time in his life.

Quintin Calitz is doing much better and I improving daily after his operation. We are staying with them when we go back to Whk and it makes for a nice time to reflect on things and help with encouragement.

Continue to pray for Fe.

Faith Journey Update
FINISHING my RACE with JOY!
Today, i finished my 17th Chemo( 5 more to go). I was alone because my friends were busy but happy to have my nephew Junjun Jonathan , around. Lately, I am thankful that I had the chance to get reconnected to Pastor/ Christian contemporaries and friends in some gatherings here in Iloilo. So blessed to see God at work at the heart of the Philippines in a very significant way. God's appointed time for us to be home.
My Paul and Josh are liking school here now...Paul getting confident in speaking Ilonggo dialect and in taking Public Utility Jeepneys...what a relief! Josh is a work in progress. Loving his foreign identity😀.
Praise God Noel had the chance to train missionaries to go to the missionfield at Asian Center for Missions. His being one of the pioneers at ACM and his almost 2decades exposure to the field gave him more confidence in doing it! Thanks ACM Visayas!

Please pray for our friend’s Thearith and Charia You and their family. Their dad passed away about a week ago. He was a real loving grandpa who came once and visit me when I was in bed after my accident and brought me some of his favourite bread, such a sweet Khmer uncle. My heart aches for them as he is not there anymore. Seeing him with his children always blessed my heart and gave me hope for the Khmer people. What an example of a true blessed man he was.

Most of you will remember the rescue of the soccer team from the caves in Thailand. Here is a small testimony after they were freed. Thanks Gordon and Bee.
While this drama was unfolding the Lord led us to pray very specifically into the situation – that He would do a miracle to bring the water level down and that it would become known that this is a miracle from Him. Over the next 12 hours that is exactly what happened. The water levels in the cave dropped unexpectedly by 30 cm opening up 100s of metres of tunnel and greatly reducing the risk – enabling the rescue operation to begin. This really was a miracle. The Lord was teaching us that it is important to listen to his heart for a situation and to pray as He directs (not as we think).
The media has reported on the Buddhist element in this story. Thailand is a Buddhist country. The coach was formerly a Buddhist monk and led the boys in meditation to keep them calm during their ordeal. Last Tuesday the coach and 11 of the wild boars team ordained as monks for one week to make merit for the ex-navy seal who died. (This is a positive aspect of Thai culture that leads young people to honour someone who has made such a sacrifice on their behalf. It helps them to come to terms with their guilt). Less reported is the fact that one of the soccer team is a Christian. Adun Sarman is the one whose voice is recorded when the British divers first discovered them. He was the spokesman for the team as he was the only one who could speak some English. He is a member of Mae Sai Grace church and has been sponsored for some years by Compassion International, a Christian organization.
Thai Channel TV gave extensive coverage of a special thanksgiving service held at Adun’s Church last Sunday. All of the wild boars plus the coach attended the Christian service as a show of solidarity. Link below is in Thai language.
This report shows Adul weeping during the service and the Thai news commentator is talking about the Creator God who loves all people – that Adul is weeping in response to God’s love. The clip then shows Adul giving his testimony in front of the congregation and his fellow soccer team members. He said they had lost all energy and all hope. The only thing that he could do was to pray. Especially on the 10th day he prayed for himself and all 13 of the team members that they would be saved. This was just before the British divers discovered them. Adul testified that God answered his prayer and now he will serve God and use his football to share Gods love throughout Thailand and the world. Although he will not ordain in the Buddhist temple like the coach and the other 11 team members, he will honour the ex-seal who gave his life, by dedicating his life to be a good citizen. This is a powerful testimony. The whole team and the coach heard the message (and any of the Thai public who were listening). Pray that the Lord will break through to the 12 during their times of meditation in the temple over the following week (I for one have personal experience of God turning up in Buddhist temples).
God is saying something here. The soccer team are ordaining for 7 days to remember the man who gave his life so that they could be saved. Pray that revelation of the God who loved us so much that he gave his only Son will break through to them (and other Thais) in the weeks and months ahead.

Thank you very much for praying for us even when we are on holiday. We are so blessed.
