Medical to the remote

This Blog is all about the work of God. Nothing we do is without the knowledge of our Father. He is the soul provider for everything we do.
We are Mordegai, Toinette, Suzaan, Gideon and Anton Rossouw from Namibia-Africa. . This Blog is all about our lives here in Cambodia while Suzaan works in South Africa. We are real Farmers from Africa and we love life and what it have to offer and enjoy it day by day.

Mordegai travels to remote villages, doing much needed medical work ,where no other doctors go, with local pastors.

Toinette is at home with the boys. Gideon is no longer with us but Anton will finish with Hope school this year and start online classes .Toinette joins FGC Community Link Cambodia to the villages close by, teaching local children in an after school setting and also women about Health Issues in a village setting.

We consider us Asians as we live such a long time in Asia, eating rice as a staple food and not meat......

Our motto in life comes from a dear friend:

With common sense and God we
can accomplish a lot

Mordegai at home for now

Sorry for not writing more often. My right hand is still not good and it makes typing a bit difficult, just a good excuse not to type. Things around here happens slow pace and I cannot do much. I come home already 13 Feb and enjoyed my time with my family again. Love it at home. Hospital life is not for me.....

I got operated on 10 Feb in the morning and they put in a steel bar into my femer plus 4 screws in the bottom knob and 2 screws into the top one. Some K-wires in my right hand as I broke my thump as well. When I came out of surgery I was in severe pain and luckily an angel in the form of  a friend came along and ask the staff to give this big foreigner some more meds. Her reasoning:"""He is not a small Khmer man."""Right!!!!! Well I made it through the night and the next day I was ok.

So I am home now and not allowed to move my leg for 3 weeks and then I can start moving it. Another 3 weeks and then I can finally step on it. Its going to be a long process but need to be done properly. My friend Anthony and Hannah will help me with therapy. Please pray for them to have wisdom on helping me.

I've seen God's hand in all of this. He lifted me up when I needed to be lifted up, send people to visit me to lift me up. I had people visiting me that I never knew before. Just shows you that the Body of Christs is at work. Just as I was starting to questioning it. We are now in a period of our lives on the  mission field where things can become very dry and you wonder if people really care anymore. God choose to differ and I learned a valuable lesson. Press on the Body hard enough and it react, Eina like we say in Afrikaans.
We say things like:"" Lord here I am, use me to further Your Kingdom."" And when God use us, it hurts and we complain... When I fell down, I asked the Lord:""Lord, why me, you could use someone else this time."" Selfish of me........Lessons we learn is hard but in  God's hand its what He wants from us. Here i s a great example of a lesson I learn, while I was in the hospital.
Feel ashamed to be called a barang (foreighner). For the second time since I am here in ward, some of the nursed came up to me and said :"you are a different barang, cause the other ones that come here is arrogant and rude to us,but you are so happy and respect us. "" We love it that you respect us. "
Feel good that I can be a shining light of Jesus here amongst the sick. What does it cost to be happy, nothing.
Come on Barangs in Cambodia and show more respect to the people of this country.

On a lighter note. Staying with 48 guys in a ward you are distant to be stared at, talked at, literally  touched at cause of your nice softness on your body( I mean your fat)) Every time someone talk tome , me weight came in the picture. When the Undertaker-I call the guy with the gurney that, came to bring me for the operation, he just park the gurney and say,:""Jump"" Whatttttt, all of this 105kg of me plus a leg that is in  2 pieces"". Then he proclaim to all how big I am and everyone laughs with me,hahahaha. They get all the men they can get and lift me on the gurney with talking the whole time about how heavy I am. I told them that I am small, they must see my little brother Werner......
When  Toinette turn around the neighbor will run her hands on her hips and feel her arms to make sure it is for real. Little grandma across the room always measure Toinette's backside and show me how big it is.......
OO and then:
For any normal person it is no problem just to go the toilet and poo or pee. For some of us this have a brand new meaning these days.
Peeing in a bottle, in front of all the people in your ward is not such a biggie but when it comes to poo ,you put it a notch higher.

First you get all your stuff together on your bed. Now everyone know what you are up to. Then get the nurse to come and help and rans away as he lnow the drill. So a good samaratin will help with your bed down the ward towards the toilet. Everyone knows your weight and blame that on the bed that cannot turn but the weel is not working anymore.

So here you are, banging on all the traction bottles that hang around with yells from everyone. The guys will wish you well for going to poo. Really??? Into the toilet with whole bed. Now the fun starts. You hop on your bedpan. Did I mention that my leg is in 2pieces and move seperatly....... Well besides that you make it up.
First impressions is good but to deal with 8 days of drugs and food, cramped up in your gut ,you push it a knop higher. Fainting is a very familiar accurance while pooing- must be. Well finally you got sucess......
Now your helper or wife need to clean you. By this time you feel already about 1 inc high from humiliation. Get it over and done with. You get pushed out while you hear your wife or helper gagging from the new Toxic waste.
Ok now back to hitting all the traction bottles again. The guys ask you. :" was it big or small ". With big grins on their faces.

Just love it here in the ward with all the boys

Please continue to pray for us as a family in this time. It is a bit stressful with me not moving. Please pray for patience for me as I am sitting the whole time, not me at all. Pray also for the speedy resolve of the truck owner. He need to compensate me for the crash, but we are still negotiating.

Always in His hands

My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing. James 1:2-4
