My goodness but time flies. It is half of the
year and we did not do much at all. The virus is still keeping people at homes
and in hospitals all around the world. Here in Cambodia things are pretty
low-key as the government takes excellent care of all these problems. Seems to
me they have the recipe to help people and people are getting cured. Although a
huge amount needs to be paid by incoming people, you get your money back if no
positive cases and it works just fine. People are still aware of the virus in
the cities but in the province, it is business as usual.
I was in the jungle this last week to visit people
living and working the land in the cut-down jungle. Lots of people out there
right now as it is rainy season and time to prepare the land for planting as
well as maintaining the Cashew trees. So people are very happy to hear us
coming and giving them medicines as they do not have any time to go to town and
see a doctor. Moving around is more difficult with all the mud and rain now.
Pray for more rain as the farmers still not have enough and certain areas are in
need of much more water for the rice to grow. One thing that always amazes me is
the fact that the Khmer people are so resilient and not sit around and get
depressed about their situation around them. Most people in the cities went
back home to the province in order to have food to plant and eat.
Please pray for our dear friends Junmar and Indin. She
is 27 weeks pregnant and currently in the hospital with contractions. They gave
her meds but Twans say that the contractions are not stopping altogether.
They are monitoring her. Toinette most properly will stay there the night to
keep an eye on them. Pray that the contractions will stop and that baby will be
safe.
Not sure if I need to be happy or sad about the news
of the old Leprosy anti. My friend James told me that she passed away a while
ago. I was so looking forward to seeing her once more this week. But in the end, I
am happy for her as she was suffering so much here on earth. I cannot imagine
how people that suffer that much can still be happy…….
We will go together with some of our friends to Stung
Treng and Ratanakiri this week and just visit the place. I will visit with some
dear Khmer friends of mine and give them some needed motorbikes for their ministries.
It looks like a real garage here at my house with 10 bikes standing around. Most
of them will be given away to people that really need them. I invest very
little money to fix them up and bless pastors or friends with needed
transportation. Please pray for safe driving on these roads and that we will
enjoy our fellowship with our friends.
A little funny story. I am farming with chickens,
mainly for eggs but I really would love to eat them as well. I asked our Khmer
friend to teach the boys how to kill and prepare a chicken for lunch and then I
left. Toinette filled me in with the details. Anton was the brave one helping
to kill the chicken and help Srey Mau to pluck feathers and prepare the lunch,
while Gideon and Toinette were nowhere to be found. Like Toinette said: ”Lunch
was a very light lunch with Gideon refusing to eat the chicken and then the
chicken got thick in my mouth and Anton as just saying to himself: ”do not
think about it and just eat.””” Well, that is not the end of the story. Toinette
gave lunch to one of the staff. I asked our helper what her chicken tasted like.
She said that she could not eat it because she saw Gideon kissing the chicken goodbye
and she was so touched that she could not eat the chicken. Hahahaha so much for
self-sustainability. So I guess I need to get rid of the chickens another way.
Toinette is thinking to become a vegetarian hahaha.
Well friends you can see that we are not such good
farmers after all. We need some training I guess. May this week be eventful
like ours and may you guys, even in lockdown, experience the Love of the Lord
in a real way. Think about all my friends a lot these days with the world in
tears.
Love
Rossouw-clan
