Good evening dear family and friends
Our internet was off last night, therefore the
slightly late news. We were just thankful we had electricity as it is hot
season here. It was Khmer New Year last week, the town was not that busy as
most people just stayed home and out of the heat. Those who ventured out joined
the water fights. The Rossouws were in their room sick as dogs. We are coughing
and sneezing already for a while and taking plenty medicines but it needs time.
It was nice having Twans here with me for most of the week. I am getting better but Twans had a relapse
and coughing up a storm again. Please
pray for healing.
One of our neighbors passes away and the funeral was
right next door to us. Now only those who have stayed in Cambodia would
understand this. Imagine deafening loud music, then multiply it with 10 and
they start up at 4am in the morning. We are sad for those passing away not
knowing Jesus,
I started to build a set of swings for the kids in the
refugee camp that we visited the other day. Got some wood today and fixed up
the sides already. We are planning to go set it up next week. Looking forward
to make more of this for some schools. Always up for a challenge.
Twans is asking prayer for the students at the Acts
program. Some students are dropping out, not wanting to study anymore. The
younger students are eager to come and learn but many of the secondary and high
school students have lost motivation. Some say it is just too hot to cycle back
and forth, which is understandable. It is really hot, even riding on the
motorbike your skin burns and you overheat easily. The kids enjoyed the Khmer
New Year celebration at our center, with songs and traditional dance, games and
ice-cream! Please continue to pray for the youth that joins on Sundays, that
they would not become discouraged or distracted, but continue to choose Jesus.
One really good thing about this season is that you
can eat as many mangoes as you like. Our trees in the yard provides plenty for
us and the absolute luxury to eat mangoes every day. In Namibia this is one of
those fruits you cannot afford to buy. Always think of my mum that loves
mangoes so much. I am packing away a couple of them while I write to you, ice
cold and yummy!!
Love to you all
Rossouw-clan
