Hey there all you beautiful people
Now that SA won the Rugby World Cup, I guess we can go back to normal business. For a while there I thought that the only thing people could talk about was Rugby, for our people that’s crazy enough. Because we are so long out of the country, I basically forgot what the rules are for rugby. I grew up in a day when a high tackle was considered a bonus, these days it’s a serious offense. Well, the world moved on, so we need to as well, stubborn to get rid of all those old-school ideas.
The Rossouws, Twans, and yours truly, are a bit under the weather. Twans’s back is giving her a lot of problems and then she got a real bad pain in her side. Ultrasound was done but nothing, we suspect a kidney stone, hiding somewhere. Then to put the cherry on the cake she got Pink eyes as well or as they call it Conjunctivitis. Nasty stuff and of course transfer it to me. Well, our eyes are much better right now but Twans’s still got lots of pain. Anton is saying that his paranoia is keeping him healthy.
I will be away this Wednesday to do some outreaches with a good friend from Phnom Pehn, Donnie, around the areas where I worked for such a long time. On Saturday, I meet up with Curtis and we will tackle the very wet jungle again to help people with more meds. Pray for us as we will be a bit busy. Pray for safe travels for all of us and open hearts for people to listen to the Gospel.
Please pray for Rachel and Nathan in the States. Their 16-year-old autistic boy suddenly passed away, they thought he had the flu but was more serious.
Continue to pray for Uncle Nico’s wife. Just talked to him and he is in a real dilemma. The doctor advised him to put his wife in a place to be cared for, but that is way too expensive. Now he can get a caregiver at home but the money will try up as well. Please pray for his wife’s health to improve. Pray for wisdom.
We can hardly expect the Church to manifest a Pauline zeal for all remaining unblessed peoples if we ourselves have failed to infuse the Church with the very historical perspectives which accelerated Paul himself to that high level of zeal. To use a parallel, physicists concerned with high energy physics tell us that no atomic particle can be accelerated to high energies unless: (1) it is a charged particle to begin with; (2) it is caught in the grip of a powerful magnetic field; and (3) that particle is moved by the magnetic field in relation to a very long tunnel, the “accelerator.” By analogy, we first have to become “charged particles” through our individual conversion to Jesus Christ. Then we must be caught in the grip of a surrounding magnetic field—the Holy Spirit’s power permeating the Body of Christ. That magnetic field must then move us in alignment with a very long tunnel—God’s 4,000-year-old purpose in history—a purpose defined by just one thing: the Abrahamic Covenant. That covenant’s importance, therefore, cannot be overstated. To perceive oneself in relation to that 4,000-year-old purpose of God is to become a profoundly “charged” person. It is impossible to imagine a stronger stimulation to high motivation in seeking the fulfillment of God’s plan for the world.
Richardson, Don. Eternity in Their Hearts (p. 146).
I’ll make you a great nation and bless you. I’ll make you famous; you’ll be a blessing. I’ll bless those who bless you; those who curse you I’ll curse. All the families of the Earth will be blessed through you.” Gen 12: 2-3
Greetings from house to house
