Here we are, far away from our families and friends, working for the Lord. Things can get a bit rough if you cannot just go home quickly and visit, so the longing for the family is always biting you. God said that He will give us more families and friends if we work for Him (Mordegai translation) Well, that is the case. For the 2nd time in 25 years, I got honored by someone really close to me, giving my name to their boy.
First, it was the name Mordegai. Deep in the mountains of Marahan is a place called Pigalungan. The pastora there was pregnant when I left the Philippines and because we know each other so much she names her son, Mordegai. This little boy is a teenager now and grew up with the Lord, Praise God. Looking forward to seeing him again.
Just a few days ago, I was honored again by a boy, Austin Lewis, which we know from Cambodia. Now, these kids lived in the jungle with their parents. They worked under the Koi tribal people deep in the jungle. They had to walk in mud, swim, and walk again to get to town or back home. We are talking about the Real missionaries here. My boys met Austin and they just love this guy, a real jungle boy. I always stopped there on my way to the North as their daughter Hailey is an excellent cook and the cookies and coffee were delicious. O sorry, I visit with Kim and Ralph, the parents as well hahaha. We just love this family to absolute bits.
Well, Austin’s 2nd child was born and he decided to call him Gideon Graham Lewis. He made me cry, yip that happens once a while. Now I am part of their family in the states and so hopefully we can see each other again soon. This is from Austin. ” Welcome to the family Gideon Graham Lewis! Born on 02/24/2021”. After hours of labor and pushing we ended up in another C-section but we are incredibly thankful for a safe delivery and healthy baby.
Our prayer for this boy is that he will trust and rely on God and be a leader to those around him. Gideon was not only named after the biblical character in the Old Testament but also after a current-day missionary that has greatly impacted Austin’s life.
Also, shout out to one of the coolest uncles out there! Gideon Rossouw I admire the love and compassion you have for Gods people. And the reflection of Jesus in your and your family's lives! Looking forward to having our kids meet you guys!” there you have it, another wild guy running around with a serious nametag on him, hahaha.
Please pray for the following people:
Ouma Matra, Mordegai’s mum is not doing so well. She has a serious Arthritis attack, which she did not have in a very long time. Shame she cannot walk due to a bad knee and is just alone in her room. Praise God for my sister and another good friend that looks after her so well. We are so blessed to have such good friends and family that look after my mum, which makes living so far away a bit easier.
Continue to pray for Judy Johnson. Here is an update on her health.
On Thursday I had my last of 3 different cocktail chemotherapy treatments. I will continue every 3 weeks with Perjeta and Herceptin chemo but will only get these 2 for my maintenance. Currently we are having our bathroom remodeled and the tub removed and a stand in shower installed. It has been next to impossible for me to get in and out of the tub because of my leg stiffness and then to stand because the chair doesn’t fit in the tub properly. We were putting it off due to financial needs but it needed to get done, it just wasn’t safe. It is our only bathroom. So, for work and most of the day we are staying at a friend’s house that is only 10 minutes away. It hopefully will just be another 2 weeks to complete. They are working hard daily on it and that is so great.
Monday I am starting physical therapy. This should help the mobility of my left shoulder. I have a hard time moving it up, down or across this one had the cancer in the lymph nodes in the arm pit. I will also have another CT scan and bone scan the week of my birthday and see how everything is doing.
Making sure no new areas as well. My doctor seems to be staying on top of things.
I’m not looking forward to side effects these next few days. I recently lost my left big toe nail and 2 others seem to be coming off too. I have lost a couple finger nails my nails are discolored. The rashes and sores on my torso, exhaustion to increase after a few steps of walking I have to stop and catch my breath. Today already I’m so tired and sleeping a lot. Peeling of my bottom of my feet, neuropathy in my hands and feet. Pain in general. I share these so you can pray specifics for me. Please include for a miracle.
We are seeing God Daily in our lives and are glad for that. Thank you all for the love you share in our lives through calls, prayers, cards, financial gifts, meals and groceries.
Noah, our garbage lady is doing just fine. Always looking forward to our mornings when I clean her wound. She always talks it away, not that I understand everything but that’s beside the point. They say the best sermon preached was 5 minutes of silence!! Her wound still looks the same but around the wound, it looks much better. The swelling is going down and more pink color is coming in. Seems that the antibiotics are working their magic.
Please pray for Toinette. Now for a long time already she is experiencing pain in her side. It became much worse this week. We did an ultrasound and they saw some fluid buildup at her Pancreas. The blood test shows that she does not have Pancreatitis but we started her on some antibiotics. She is doing a bit better but gets tired very quickly.
As you can see things are a bit crazy around here but we are living in strange times. The capital Phnom Pehn and Sihanoukville is basically closed due to some community outbreaks. We are still safe here in Siem Reap. We pray that this week will be a good week for you all and that you will experience God in a very special way.
Love

Thank you so much for this monday night prayers....Thankyou for sharing just some of the work that is being done and for introducing us to the present time workers and those who have ministered in the past. Our prayers go out to those workers who now find themselves in need of timely help and touches from our Lord. Terry
