I was just reminded on Facebook about the terrible time when I had a big accident that almost cost my life. My good friend John reminded me that it was 7 years ago, wow time flies. No wonder I had a sudden pain in my leg these couple of day’s hahaha. God is faithful in restoring us to our full potential again and he is still building on that, praise His wonderful name. All the glory to our King and Father for restoring broken bones and heal broken trust in motorbikes…….
A small testimony of God’s absolute faithfulness in our children. Gideon joined us this afternoon as my friend Isaac brought me to the province to visit a sick guy. We were talking about the vaccines. Isaac was expressing his confidence in it and of course, I was a bit skeptical about all the side effects. Well here is Gideon from the back:”” I read in the news that one of the side effects of these vaccines is Autism, and I already have Autism so I want the vaccine. ”I was struck by his response that he knows so much about his condition that he Google it and read about it online. Tell me again that my son needs to be in an institution!!! We got that advice from a doctor years ago, ugghh. God is bigger than this, He can heal a broken brain and give wisdom when we give Him time.
I wrote this on Facebook for friends but I know that a lot of you do not have Facebook so I share it again. The Lord is doing a beautiful thing. For a while now I was asking the Lord what to do instead of only go out once a month to the jungle. Sure enough, it’s a dangerous prayer to pray, as the Lord gives us enough to keep us occupied.
While selling my little balancing blocks, I met this angel from Norway, Katrina that shared this story with me and it was time for action. We are helping a real sad case of cancer that went wrong. This lady is already staying for 5-6 years on the street under a pile of rubble. Khmer workers from a factory across the road help her with food as well as many people from various NGO's came to help.
She got breast cancer and you can smell it the moment you come close to her. She is very open to helping and I could help her to clean the wound. With my friends there, they could ask a lot of questions.
This morning, cleaning Noah's (not sure about the spelling but it sounds a lot like this) wound another lady came, who is giving her some money every day to buy some food. Isaac started talking to her and she told us about Noah. She just took plastic to cover her wound when no-one was around and it was stinking a lot.
At this time after a few days, Noah's spirits are lifted a bit and we can see change on her face. She just thanks to us for no pain anymore. Matt prayed for her and after that, the lady was crying. I am sure she was touched by the prayer.
I know lots of people helped before and that helped Noah to soften and not be scared so much of help coming her way. We are just another help in the line of many before but we thank God for all the help that came Noah's way. This gives me hope for Cambodia, seeing Khmer people having compassion for their own people who suffers.
Long story short. We need to build a long relationship in order to get things done. Not even sure if we ever will get her the help she needs but we leave it there. Cleaning her wound is a priority number 1 now. This is a real team effort with lots of people behind the scene giving and caring. This an example to all that we as missionaries can work together with caring and loving non-believers and that we can help people in a tangible way. We are nothing special, everyone is special in God’s eyes.
Hanging out with Isaac and Matt has it perks. I got introduced to another young man, just outside the city. This is where Isaac is working. He has Buerger's disease. (Buerger's disease is a rare disease of the arteries and veins in the arms and legs. In Buerger's disease — also called thromboangiitis obliterans — your blood vessels become inflamed, swell, and can become blocked with blood clots (thrombi). They already amputated his one leg and did a really bad job of it but it saved his life. Now his other leg is starting to give problems. He tried everything and every traditional doctor around and lost all the belongings and land due to this.
We hope and pray we can help him and at least clean his wound and stop his toe from rotting away. I am not sure it will help but they are desperate for help and that seems to be the right moment for them. They are open to the Gospel and that’s where Isaac and his team are coming in.
So nice to be part of the bigger circle of Mission minded people. Together we can make a difference. We work in a severely oppressed society and we know that the enemy does not like it, so please pray for us all to be sure about our salvation in the Lord and that we can stand our ground against all the forces that work against us. We pray the same for you wherever you are right now that God will show us His mercy every day and that we will be humble to receive it.
Love as always
