Sitting on my deck and drinking coffee, overlooking the rice fields and people harvesting rice, still old school style, just makes me appreciate eating rice more and more. So much work is going into getting that rice planted and wait for it to get ready and to cut it by hand or machine and dry it and finally getting it to rice to eat. Oh my, this idea just makes me hungry hahaha.
People here in Cambodia is not so badly affected by the Covid virus as the rest of the world, thank you Lord for that. Well just recently a Foreign minister from Hungary came and visit the government and they gathered 600+ people for him to address. Of course, he was tested and tested negative but after that, they did not keep a precautionary measure on high alert so no masks and handshakes, etc. Well, he got on the plane, and in Thailand, he got tested positive for Covid 19. Now the government is on high alert with the PM in quarantine plus ministers as well as some other people. Schools in Phnom Pehn are closed and the PM asks people to be vigilant.
I was in Phnom Pehn last week and to be honest, the people are wearing masks and are cautious but in lots of places, people do not wear masks and only put it on when a foreigner comes by. There is a belief that it’s only foreigners that can get this disease amongst certain people. Sad that it’s like that. It is so much easier here in Asia as people wear a mask even without illnesses around. Everywhere you go they even give you masks and spray your hands. If this type of hygiene will survive we will get rid of many more diseases. https://www.khmertimeskh.com/50783102/over-3000-samples-taken-after-november-3-incident-test-negative-for-covid-19/
Here is a writing from old-time friends in the States, Mark and Jenny Fox. This is just an example of how vigilant we need to be, can happen to anyone, so please be careful. Please pray with us for this family to be healed. This writing is from Mark.
This is Jenny's post - just sharing it on my page.
This Covid virus is definitely one to avoid. It feels terrible! It is WORTH your time taking time to think about reducing risks to your relatives for Thanksgiving! I know we are all tired of taking precautions, but being sick with Covid is a good reminder that it can have a bad outcome and we don't want to remember Thanksgiving that way.

A Cautionary Tale: 3 weeks ago we eagerly welcomed our daughter for a visit. She lives and works 2 hours away and she complies with all the Covid-19 prevention actions and was healthy when she visited. Our family enjoyed eating dinner around our table and spending an evening together. We did not wear our masks or social distance (naively thinking, "She's our daughter!"). The day after she left she thought she had a seasonal allergy flare-up. A few days later she lost her sense of taste/smell and got tested and was positive.
Since we had been exposed, we quarantined and all got tested. Two of my sons tested positive and were mildly sick at first (and have since become miserably ill). Day by day each one of us has become sick and it is awful.
We are a young, healthy family and this virus can cause terrible misery even when it's not life-threatening (where's that asymptomatic version??? Sign me up for that one if we have to have it). It can last a long time and shut you down for a month without blinking.
We are so grateful for our community here, all the people who are carrying us through by leaving food on our porch, doing errands, and praying for us faithfully. We have an incredible amount of support and are humbled by the generous love of so many.
I write this not for sympathy, but to share how real and easily Covid-19 can affect your life, especially as you consider gathering for holidays around the corner.
Sad to report that uncle Joost passed away. His health deteriorates pretty badly and quickly even after they got a doctor to him. He was surrounded by beautiful people that really cared for him.
Please pray with us for a situation at home in Namibia concerning my mum. Just recently the government thought it good to scrap certain people of the Government medical fund, nobody knows why?? Their reason is just that they are not allowing people to just waste the money of the government anymore. Now the problem is that grandma needs a knee replacement asap and without a medical fund this is not happening. My dad worked all those years for the government and now they say but his work was not under the government. Oh my goodness the problems with the government are getting worse and worse by the day. Please pray for my poor sister that needs to deal with this problem. It is not so easy to get a medical fund at this age. We pray for a miracle.
Thank you very much for thinking of us. We are so privileged that we have so many people to pray for us. From the bottom of our hearts we say thanks, we mean it.
Love
