Monsoon rains finally arrived and we had a huge
downpour that lasted through the night. Parts of town flooded but the farmers are
happy as they can start planting rice. Almost every night I grab a cup of
coffee and sit on my lookout and wait for the rain to come over our house. It
reminds so much of home in Namibia, waiting for the rains to come.
The boys are on holiday if they did not have enough
holiday already, Ugghhh School or shall I say, the real school needs to start soon.
I am teaching the boys to ride a motorbike and that is a lot of fun every
afternoon. It is going to be a real mess with all the mud right now so look out
for some muddy pics. Today they got to go to the Wake Board Park run by the ICF
church in Siem Reap. Check them out, a pretty amazing ministry run by this
church. https://www.icf-wakepark.com/ In these times where everything is up in the
air and a lot of uncertainties, I think we need to be very resourceful in our
ministries. Lots of people do not like the way these people do ministry but
talking to one of the main guys there today, he spoke of meeting different
people and having church every day of the week rather than only on Sunday,
makes sense to me, of course, if you can afford it. I can see that this thing
will work in the long run. We must stop judging people or churches the way they
do their bid for the Kingdom of God and rather focus on our own things. Every
little bit helps.
Talk to my old friend Samai and asked him when we can
meet again but he say that the COVID thing is not doing so well with the ministry.
The police in certain areas are very strict as they try to curb a second wave.
They implemented a new rule for foreigners to pay for everything when they
enter the country. Not so sure this will attract tourists as the amounts of
money you need to give is a lot. Read the article below. I really not hope this
is the New Norm.
My friend Curtis is telling me that our friend Heang
from Thor Piang Rosey is attending the online Bible classes that Curtis is
doing. It is a great way this works as technology is amazing this way.
Please pray for FGC Cambodia as they try and see how
to be able to do classes at certain houses in this time. It is not as simple as
they are not allowed to have more than 10 people together and need to practice
social distancing. Now the families do not have space and they need to see how
things like this can work. With the rainy season here, it will be a real challenge.
They go now from house to house and visit the students. Schools are scheduled
to open in November.
Pray for the following people:
Ouma Paula’s shoulder is doing a bit better and the
doctor reckons that they will not do and operation as the bone is in place and
they want it to heal by itself.
Pray for Ouma Matra’s knee. My sister needs to jump through
a lot of hoops in order to get my mum ready for operation. She is not fit for
an operation and they need to run tests in order for her to get this operation.
Let us pray for America as they are going through a
real tuff time. It is a nation so divided. Pray against the enemy’s plans to
destroy all the foundations the nation was built upon.
Thank you once again for praying with us for all of
this. We are grateful to have so many people praying for us as well as
supporting us.

Foreigners to be charged “$3000 deposit”
for C-19 quarantine, tests
The government has decided to charge all foreign
visitors for lab testing, medical treatment and accommodation under health
measures to prevent a second wave of COVID-19 (C-19) transmission in the
country.
Under the Kingdom’s health measures, all travelers,
both Cambodians and foreigners, who travel to Cambodia will be transferred from
airports to waiting centres where COVID-19 swab tests are done. They are
required to remain at the centres until the test results are released.
Sao Wathana, director of the Phnom Penh International
Airport, said yesterday the new requirements imposed for foreign arrivals will
take effect from today. “Upon arrival, all foreign passengers are required to
deposit $3,000 at the airport to pay for the virus prevention services,” he
said. “Passengers can pay in cash or through credit cards.” He added that those
who test negative for the virus will only be charged the fees for the test and
will be given back the remainder of their deposit.
Finance Minister Aun Pornmoinroth said in a statement
on Monday that he agreed to a request by the Ministry of Health to charge
foreigners for COVID-19 lab tests, quarantine and medical treatment services.
He instructed the Health Ministry to discuss with
relevant banks the possibility of setting up offices in the airport for
foreigners to pay the $3,000 deposit. The Health Ministry said in a statement
that a foreigner will have to pay $5 for a single trip between the airport and
the waiting centre, $100 for a COVID-19 test, $30 for a day’s stay at a hotel
or at a waiting centre while waiting for the test results and $30 for three
meals during their wait.
It added that if any passenger tests positive for
COVID-19, those on the same flight will be quarantined for 14 days and each
will be required to pay $100 for one test and $84 dollars a day to pay for the
stay in a hotel or quarantine facility, meals, laundry, sanitary services,
doctors and security services.
According to the statement, each COVID-19 positive
patient will be required to pay $100 per test [maximum four tests] and $225 a
day for the hospital room, medical treatment, meals, laundry and sanitary
services. It added that in case of death, the cremation service charge is
$1,500.
Sechou Sethychout, deputy director of the health
department at Preah Sihanouk province, said yesterday all passengers need to be
ready and have enough money to pay for the COVID-19-related services.
“During the first stage we provided the services free
of charge because our country was not really prepared,” he said. “But now we
have to put in place measures to prevent a second wave of the virus,” Mr
Sethychout said, adding that all countries charge arriving passengers for virus
prevention services.
In March, Prime Minister Hun Sen said all patients,
regardless of their nationalities, who test positive for the new coronavirus in
Cambodia are entitled to have free medical treatment. “We are poor, but our
heart is big,” Mr Hun Sen said at that time.
To date Cambodia has 126 coronavirus cases, most of
which were imported. https://www.khmertimeskh.com/50732611/foreigners-to-be-charged-for-c-19-quarantine-tests/?fbclid=IwAR0FKFEJz2HE6MvkS9lqMvoppkNz7qgPc2cx7rbp6StHpcrJvmUjiG7Ci1U
