Sipping on some strong Ethiopian coffee let the
world seems like a better place, or at least for a moment. This last week I was
with my friends and family of FGC Community Link Cambodia, doing a 4 day medical
outreach around Siem Reap. Our friend Dr.Gan and his team came from Malaysia to
do this outreach. For a change I did nothing and took some pictures of the
people. It was great to see people come out to get medicine and good medicines.
Some ladies from church came back and told Toinette that the doctor gave good
meds to them. That is good to hear. Looking at the amount of meds available you
could see that Dr. Gan really wanted to bless the people.
A bit alarming for me is the amount of Down Syndrome
children around. In 2 villages Out of the 4 villages we got 2 children. We see
more and more Special Needs children around.
While in one village close to the
lake, my friends Argie and Tree took me to a cemetery not far from the outreach
point. Nobody wants to stay there but 2 families are there as they do not have
anywhere else to stay. One guy, by further investigation, got Tuberculoid
leprosy. Dr. Gan explain it to us. “Tuberculoid leprosy is a milder, less
severe form of leprosy. People with this type have only one or a few patches of
flat, pale-colored skin (called paucibacillary leprosy). The affected area of
skin may feel numb because of nerve damage underneath. Tuberculoid leprosy is
less contagious than other forms.” This man is lying away from the other
house in his hammock and just waiting for death to knock on his door. Sad to
see someone like that in such a pitiful state, but that is the stigma of this kind
of sickness. You get pushed out of the community and what then? His wife died
and his neighbour took pity on him and helps him and his boy. I will go out and
try to bring him to Phnom Pehn and get some meds for him.
All of a sudden the list of family and friends with
cancer is growing quite long. Pray with us for people that struggle daily with
this.
Deon Botha is not doing well. His wife says that he
is really tired; his chest hurts and is confused. Please pray that he can see
doctor asap to sort this out.
Annerina, my older brother Jean’s girlfriend just
got a Hysterectomy because of cancer. They are still waiting for tests results
and treatment for her.
My uncle George in Cape Town fell down and broke his
hip but had a setback 2 days ago. They think he had a stroke and he was still
not out of the woods when I talked to my niece.
Pray for Quinton and Andrea as they are also on
their way to heal.
Dengue Fever is an Epidemic here in Cambodia, Thailand,
Philippines as well as Malaysia and we saw a lot of Dengue cases in the villages. Pray for these children
as many of them die because of this. “”Dengue fever is a mosquito-borne
tropical disease caused by the dengue virus. Symptoms typically begin three to
fourteen days after infection. This may include a high fever, headache,
vomiting, muscle and joint pains, and a characteristic skin rash.””
I leave you with this:
Jesus has no intention of letting you become whole
apart from his moment-to-moment presence and life within you. Your brokenness
and your sin are not something you overcome so that you can walk with God. They
are the occasions for you to cry out for the life of God in you to rescue you.
Not God outside you, up in the sky somewhere. Christ in you, your only hope of
glory. Let this sink in: Jesus has no intention of letting you become whole
apart from his moment-to-moment presence and life within you.

Thank you once again for praying for us all. Really
appreciate it a lot as we cannot do without it.
