Medical to the remote

This Blog is all about the work of God. Nothing we do is without the knowledge of our Father. He is the soul provider for everything we do.
We are Mordegai, Toinette, Suzaan, Gideon and Anton Rossouw from Namibia-Africa. . This Blog is all about our lives here in Cambodia while Suzaan works in South Africa. We are real Farmers from Africa and we love life and what it have to offer and enjoy it day by day.

Mordegai travels to remote villages, doing much needed medical work ,where no other doctors go, with local pastors.

Toinette is at home with the boys. Gideon is no longer with us but Anton will finish with Hope school this year and start online classes .Toinette joins FGC Community Link Cambodia to the villages close by, teaching local children in an after school setting and also women about Health Issues in a village setting.

We consider us Asians as we live such a long time in Asia, eating rice as a staple food and not meat......

Our motto in life comes from a dear friend:

With common sense and God we
can accomplish a lot

Monday night prayers 24 September 2018

Today is a holiday, one of the thousands this year and one of the many more to come this year. Well that means one thing and one thing only, go and eat with the boys. Local food is the best and eating at our fav restaurant, you cannot do better. Off course after that it’s starting to fix all the broken vehicles on the yard. Start first with the Tico. Toinette had to help as the battery is dead, luck but the thing does not want to ride away. Build the whole carburator out and discover our problem. It was cleaned the day the assemble it and that was before Noah and his ark. I could fix the Suzuki as the one piston leak so much oil that the poor sparkplug get clogged up with oil, done.(nope seems I need to work longer on it) Fixed also one of the bikes that need some TLC and also fix my friend Apo’s wheel chair. So tomorrow I just need some spare parts and I can finish the tico and the wheelchair. Jack of all trades, master of none, that’s me….

We really live in interesting times. It is good to have a bit of time on my hands to catch up with things happening around the world. I love to learn from other cultures and everything they are struggling with. It is just so strange that all the problems are the same in every country. People in the provinces are getting hungry and they migrate to the cities in order to get work and end up without any hope. Looking at the Venezuela-crisis and how people walk out towards Colombia and try to get work, just to reach there and find out that they need to walk back again as they do not have work. People walk for days without food with just the hope that they will have a better life.
Then I do not even talk about the big exodus into Europe with migrants in never ending numbers try to reach safety from wars. It seems like a never ending story but we need to remember that this is all in God’s plan. How, I do not know, but I hold onto Him that can make things work. I pray for a better outcome to this mess that this world is in. Let us have more compassion to the lost out there. You and I can make a difference just there wherever you are.

Please pray for my friend Deon. His operation will be this Wednesday 26th. Continue to pray for peace in this difficult time and wisdom for the doctors on what will be the best outcome.

This is a bit late but we can still pray for Marla as she is in recovery. I give a bit of detail of her massive surgery on the 19th.
Please pray for our friend Marla and her husband Rich, they are missionaries to the Philippines, but are currently in Seattle where Marla will undergo a very complex surgery tomorrow (Wednesday) to deal with a rare form of uterine cancer that has somehow spread to her blood and veins. God has been sustaining her and she has shown amazing grace that can only come from trusting Him. I trust Him with you, Marla.
To get a sense of what she's facing, she shared the following, including specific doctors names for those who'd like to pray for them by name:
Dr. Charles Drescher, GYN/Oncologist will be doing the hysterectomy and removing one of the tumors in a vein.
Dr. Evan Ong, Oncology/Surgeon will be moving the liver out of the way so that the Inferior Vena Cava is accessible.
Dr. Paul Hayes, Vascular Cardiologist and
Dr. Eric Lehr, Cardiologist will be working on removing the two tumors in the other veins including the IVC. If needed they will work through the heart depending on how high the tumor reaches.
Each surgeon has his own team that will be working with him in the OR. Please also pray for all of these people who will be involved in the details of the operation.
Update:
"Family and Friends
I just wanted to update you all who are continuing to pray for Marla.
God continues to prove himself a God worthy of being faithful to. From stories of Drs and nurses praying for Marla to the more than a thousand people around the world lifting her up in prayer for 24 hours yesterday. God is faithful to provide the people to pray and we are encouraged by all of you and your efforts to support us.
Marla spent about 13 hours in surgery yesterday and the report I heard from the Drs late last night as well as so far today is all positive. Marla did very well in surgery and has quickly begun the recovery process. Early this morning they removed the breathing tube and have been monitoring her. She was sitting in a chair by 8 am this morning and has continued to follow the Drs orders. She is in a good amount of pain, but is able to stay on top of it. The Intensive Care Dr has told us that she is doing well enough all ready to move her out of Intensive Care later today. We are thanking God and preparing to move forward with the recovery.
As usual Marla is making friends with everyone she meets here at the hospital. She is doing remarkably well and we are so thankful to God for this process even though it has been hard, there have been wonderful things to watch unfold in the plan of God's.
Regarding the cancer and the tumors, all four Drs seem pleased with the surgery and are confident that they were able to remove all of the tumors that they planned to remove. They will begin Marla on a hormone replacement therapy in the next few days as this type of cancer responds very well to that type of treatment. We will know more in the days and weeks ahead, but at this point, there is much to be thankful and hopeful for. Thank you all again, for storming the gates of heaven with your prayers.

On behalf of all of our family, Thank you.
Blessings
Rich"

Seems that God is doing some changes in my normal schedule. My one friend in Thor Piang Rosey moved to Phnom Pehn and left his brother to help me, which is good. John in Kabal Domrey is getting married in November and is planning to move away as well. I know that someone will help me but it seems that planning is not such a good thing. One thing I learned in Asia is to be very Flexible. I need to take plans from day to day basis. That will frustrate most of the people I know but that is how things work around here. Samai, up North is just as busy so going there is not an option. Pray as I riding this time out.
On the other hand, Toinette is very busy with her students and she really loves teaching them. She says that once the older students left, after finishing school, the younger ones filled the gap. This ministry really proofs to make disciples and teaching them to look to the future, rather than go with the flow. Pray for her as she still teaches Gideon in the mornings and go and teach in the village in the afternoons.

Ok thanks for listening again. Wish all of you a happy and fruitful week.
Love
Rossouw-clan
