Twans and the students are preparing for
International Women's Day March 8. Students had to do research on different
countries, customs, greetings in the national language etc and each group has
to dress one member in the national costume of that country. Students are
having fun practicing the different greetings and we will post pictures of the
big event.
Twans also just finished the 3rd part of Refocus
seminar. A very helpful workshop for long term missionaries to take a look back
in order to move forward again. Like the man rowing his boat. Looking back but
the boat is moving forward. We praise God for programs like this to help us
focus on God, His faithfulness in our lives all these years and to not get
tired of doing good.
Some of the younger students who are also attending
Sunday morning "Mighty Kids" more faithfully are sharing with our
Khmer pastor's wife how they want to belief in Jesus more and more but it is
hard because their parents don't belief in Jesus. Please pray earnestly for
them, that their faith will be strengthened, for wisdom how to be a testimony
in word and deed to their families.
Please pray for our beloved Anti Resie, mum of
Andrea Calitz. She fell down in church and broke her shoulder. On this age it’s
not a nice thing to happen to you. Currently she is in hospital and they will
decide if they operate or not. Will keep you posted.
I will be travelling to Ratanakiri tomorrow. My
friends asked me to come and pull some teeth in prison as they experience
really bad teeth, and if you know me, I do not like bad teeth,hahaha. Pray for
safe travels and open hearts even in jail.
Please pray for Hope school. It is the international
school here in Siem Reap and their main campus in Phnom Pehn. They are in need
of some teachers. If you up to it, it’s always a need here, so pack your bags
and come.

Our Dear Family and Friends,
We want to thank you from the depths of
our hearts for your ongoing prayers and support over the last few years. It is
with heavy hearts that we share the following with you.
Recently, we have been through some
overwhelming and trying circumstances and for personal reasons, we have made
the difficult decision to return to the States. We have decided that Dallas
will be a healthy location for us to reestablish ourselves as a family.
This next step comes unexpectedly for
us, but has been prayerfully considered in conjunction with fellow believers
and the different organizations we work with in Tanzania. It is most likely that
we will not be returning to the field in the near future. We will communicate
more in the coming months, but for now we are asking for some time and space
for our family as we regain our footing.
Over the next couple of years as we
settle into Dallas, we covet your prayers for our family during this major
transition.
We just went through Chinees New Year. We are very
fortunate that we can celebrate 3 New Years. We are waiting now for the Khmer
New Year a bit later in the year.
When is Chinese New Year 2018?
The 2018 Chinese New Year began on
Friday, February 16.
The celebrations will last for over two

How is Chinese New Year celebrated?
The global celebrations are an explosion
of light and sound, involving bell ringing, lighting firecrackers and watching
traditional lion dances. Chinese families gather together for a reunion dinner
on New Year's Eve, and clean their houses to sweep away bad fortune on New
Year's Day. Traditionally, kids would be given red envelopes stuffed with
'lucky money' and positive wishes on New Year's Day. Some teens now have red
envelope apps, so their relatives can transfer cash digitally.
Which animal represents 2018?
2018 is the Year of the Dog. The Chinese
zodiac moves in a 12-year cycle, and those born in 1958, 1970, 1982, 1994,
2006, and 2018 are also known as Dogs. According to the Asian astrology, your
year of birth - and the animal this represents - determines a lot about your
personality traits.
Although each of the twelve animals gets
an outing every dozen years, there are different varieties - and 2018 will be
the first Year of the Earth Dog since 1958. Anyone born in an Earth Dog year
will be communicative, serious, and responsible in the workplace.
What is the Chinese Zodiac story?
Legend has it that, back in the ancient
days, the Jade Emperor ordered that animals would become part of the calendar
and that the 12 who arrived first would be selected. At the time, the cat and
the rat were good friends. When they heard the news, the cat said to the rat:
"We should arrive early to sign up, but I usually get up late." The
rat promised to wake his pal up so they could go together but, because he was
so excited, forgot and went alone. On the way, the rat bumped into the tiger,
ox, horse and other animals - who were all much faster than him. He hatched a
plan and convinced the ox to carry him on his back - on the condition that the
rat sang throughout the journey. The ox arrived first, but the rat sneaked in
front of him and became the first lucky animal. By the time the cat arrived,
the selection was over - which is why the cat hates the rat and will always try
to chase and kill him.
Good talking to you all and giving you a scope of
what is happening around here. It is dry and dusty and everyone coughs, but we
know it’s the season we need to be here. Pray with us for new workers here that
get tired and discourage. This is after all a missionary-graveyard-country.
