Good evening
It is amazing how the time is flying by. Anton arrived
home for a quick visit before he needs to go and do an internship in Malaysia.
Let me quickly tell you how good out God is. He had to apply for companies to
get an internship and did apply for 15 companies and only 1 came back to him
and he got the job. It is a place very close to the university and he can walk
there every day. It was the first place he applied and he got the job. He says
that his friends are applying for minimum 20 companies and did not got any
reply yet. He will start this August 29. He need to do an internship for 12
weeks and then he will be finish with his Diploma.
Toinette had to teach this last week as most of the
staff went to ta seminar in Phnom Pehn. She was teaching the children on Saudi
Arabia. She prepared some food and I must say the Falafel was a hit. (Falafel
is a popular, deep-fried fritter made from ground chickpeas, fava beans, or
both. Originating in Egypt and a staple of Middle Eastern cuisine, it is
heavily seasoned with herbs and spices, and is celebrated for its crispy
exterior and soft, flavorful interior) I also had to buy Dates and yogurt
as it was part of the food they eat the most. Well, the children did not even
try it. When food is funny, the people do not want to try. Well we had more to
eat in the night when she came back.
She let them made some paper camels and they dressed
like Arabs. All the children made their camels a brown color but one boy came
up with a bright green camel. Toinette asked him what sort of camel is this.
His reply:” Teacher, this is an Alien camel.” There you have it;
imagination is the key in these teachings. The Sewing club is doing great.
Toinette is sharing that they are way too eager to do sewing, so eager that
they broke 2 machines and 5 needles already, hahaha. But sewing they wanna do.
It is a wonderful fellowship time with the ladies and they want to learn how to
do it. Twans just need to teach them to listen and be slower with the machines.
Continue to pray for Ria in the hospital. The doctors
want to amputate his leg below the knee as his infection is too bad. It is the
best they can do as they cannot save the foot. This is a big decision for him
to lose his leg and made a cripple out of him but Gordon assured him that he
can go on with his leg and with a prosthesis he can manage very well. Pray for
him and his family to make a decision asap. From Gordon:” Talk with the son
and he understands that amputation, prosthesis and learning to walk again -
they can both (husband and wife) get their life back again. But I guess it's
too scary for Ria to accept losing half his leg (at this stage).”
Abraham was under the weather this last week, please
pray for him and his family to be up and going again soon. Not nice to run a
fever in this hot weather.
The children are still trying their best to convince Russel
and Lowrenza to get more help but things are not as easy as that. Lots of walls
need to broke off to penetrate hearts to soften up. Pray for them as they
struggling with life.
