Seems like forever that we communicating with you guys. Sorry for that. We are currently in Namibia with grandma Paula, Toinette’s mum at the coast. We left Cambodia so quickly that we barely could get our heads around it. Covid was real bad and when we arrived here almost everything was back to normal. We had to adjust our minds around the fact that we are not in lockdowns anymore.
These last few weeks were brutal for us as a family. Taking pictures with only 3 of us just do not fit. The constant absence of Gideon is sinking in and reality is slowly setting in. Our son is not here anymore and we need to deal with it, whatever the circumstance. Basically, our days start with some crying, and then we can tackle the days. Sleepness nights are in order as we struggle with playbacks in our minds and thoughts about the sad things, rather than the good times. As the day goes by we can see Gideon in everything we do.
This morning I was fishing and crying as I was so sad. All of a sudden I caught a small shark and was reminded how Gideon always loved it if I catch a small shark. The Lord gave me a quick reminder of him and I felt better. We take days as it comes. We are with the family and that makes things so much better. Being with family, we can talk about things. Our daughter Suzaan came for a quick visit and it was so nice to hold her as we felt like a complete family again. We will see her again during our time here.
We really want to thank everyone that helped us in this difficult time. We were amazed by the outpour of love we received. Not even to mention all the support we got from everyone. We do not want to name people as there are so many key players but we must thank our dear friends in Cambodia that helped us all the way in lockdown with all the details about getting the necessary paperwork done. We saw the Body of Christ working together in harmony. We praise God for having such good friends. Without you all, we would not be able to do and accomplice everything. We see the need to be available to people that are in need. In our brokenness, we can reach out to others that are experiencing the same situation as us.
We asked for prayer for Nico Millen. He passed away about a week ago in Siem Reap. Please pray for his wife Sonette and their children who are currently getting ready to return to South Africa.
We asked prayer for uncle Tom Swanson as well. He passed away as well. Can you please pray for his wife, Donna, and his family?
Noah is getting pretty good help from a good friend, Julius. He is from the ICF church and his team is helping Noah with her wound as well as spiritual input. I cannot wait to see what is happening when we return.
The great news is that Cambodia is opening up and we do not need to do any quarantine anymore because we are fully vaccinated. Seems that going back home will be more smooth than anticipated. https://vodenglish.news/cambodia-quashes-quarantine-for-vaccinated-travelers-pm/
Thank you very much for all your prayers. We really appreciate it and need it at this point. We would love to hear from you all. Now we have lots of time to reply so go for it.
Love to you all
