Medical to the remote

This Blog is all about the work of God. Nothing we do is without the knowledge of our Father. He is the soul provider for everything we do.
We are Mordegai, Toinette, Suzaan,Gideon and Anton Rossouw from Namibia-Africa. . This Blog is all about our lives here in Cambodia while Suzaan works in South Africa. We are real Farmers from Africa and we love life and what it have to offer and enjoy it day by day.

Mordegai travels to remote villages up in the far North of Cambodia, doing much needed medical work ,where no other doctors go, with local pastors as well as the Department of Health of Ratanakiri.

Toinette is at home with the boys. Homeschooling Gideon is a task not for sissies, while Anton is in Eli school. .She joins FGC Community Link Cambodia to the villages close by, teaching local children in an after school setting and also women about Health Issues in a village setting.

We consider us Asians as we live such a long time in Asia, eating rice as a staple food and not meat......

Our motto in life comes from a dear friend:

With common sense and God we
can accomplish a lot

uncle Cacilaya Amsolidin

Can you please pray for uncle Cacilaya Amsolidin. He is the father of Olong, the man with the wound on the chest. Before he was a very big witchdoctor, but the Lord saved him and ever since he love the Lord. Recently he develop some eye problems . Finally I took him to the doctor but it is already to late. He have a Fungal Endophthamitis with a corneal ulceration and a bacterial infection. This is very serious as the infection can pass to the brain and he can die. He is in the hospital right now and the eye specialist gave him the best medicine available.

I talk to the doctor today and she said that if the eye do not improve by Monday then she need to remove the eye. Please pray that the removal of the eye will not be nesessary. Pray that his eye will recover and that the infection will stop. After that we will need to give him a lot of medicines for months.

The past 2 weeks was quite a difficult one. Meeting uncle Cacilaya was a good and sad experience. His eye is still very serious and the only thing we basically can do is to remove the eye in order to save the other one as well as his life. Now that does not mean that we do not believe in miracles. God can still cure the eye, but from a medical point of view it is better to remove it. But again the will to have power of my own life is stronger than listening to a good doctor. He is afraid for an operation although he know that it can kill him. He will take the chance. Please continue praying for him.

15 May 2001 - I just visited the uncle and his eye is like it was in the beginning. The puss returned and the eye look bad. I stressed the importance of giving him an operation, again , but no luck.

The old man I was telling you about last time, named Cacalaya, wants to die. Let me explain. When asking Josef to explain to us, we came to the conclusion that he is not really a committed Christian yet. Yes, he gave his heart to Christ but he still cling onto his demon spirits as well. He say that if he eat he sees his brother that died without eating. Now if I say that he is skinny then I mean it. He is not eating at all and I do not know when he will finally collapse. His brother was a witchdoctor as well as he and that is still with him. Josef say that he have lots of trouble in his heart and that he needs to make a decision on taking in God 100%. Bt for now he is not interested. He just want to die. The problem is not that there is not enough food. Josef say that all the Badjaos give food but he do not want to eat at all.

I just came from the Badjaos and sad to say the uncle is busy dying. What else could I say. He is just a skeleton that is breathing. He refuse to eat and it is sad to see him like that. We could just pray that the Lord will speak to him and that he will be able to listen. It is hard to say how long still but the family are all waiting in Olong's house for the uncle to die. Speaking of Olong. Please lift him up in prayer as the uncle is his father. Olong's one leg is swollen up very bad and he has another big ulcer on the foot. I gave him some medicine for his leg and hope him the best. I will keep you informed on his status.

Uncle Casalaya died on June 5. We were expecting him to die sooner but he held out . It was sad to see uncle Olong in such a state of pain. This uncle knew both sides, he knew about Jesus and he knew the spirit world. Before his death he chose the evil sprits. All of us were praying but he stood his ground. We felt so helpless in the end. All of us , midwifes included watched how they washed him. Don't laugh but there were wet paint everywhere, everyone around was white of all the paint. While they were carrying the coffin one of the ladies dress was glued onto the coffin. They struggle to get the lid open and nobody could find a hammer and then a spoon was good enough to open it. Show you that you do not need a hammer after all. The paint was so thick that it worked like glue your hand can almost sit on it. Many guys tried but to their shock their hands turn white. Josef was himself again and full of jokes while they try to put the uncle to rest. Everybody was dead serious and all of a sudden Lalati(Jonah) gave a unbelievable loud sneeze. Well my heart almost stood still for a while. Well that was cheered by everyone and they were laughting. They put a pana(speargun) with him plus a slingshot-maybe to shoot the evil spririts, I don't know. Shame the old anti is not doing good at all.
