Medical to the remote

This Blog is all about the work of God. Nothing we do is without the knowledge of our Father. He is the soul provider for everything we do.
We are Mordegai, Toinette, Suzaan, Gideon and Anton Rossouw from Namibia-Africa. . This Blog is all about our lives here in Cambodia while Suzaan works in South Africa. We are real Farmers from Africa and we love life and what it have to offer and enjoy it day by day.

Mordegai travels to remote villages, doing much needed medical work ,where no other doctors go, with local pastors.

Toinette is at home with the boys. Gideon is no longer with us but Anton will finish with Hope school this year and start online classes .Toinette joins FGC Community Link Cambodia to the villages close by, teaching local children in an after school setting and also women about Health Issues in a village setting.

We consider us Asians as we live such a long time in Asia, eating rice as a staple food and not meat......

Our motto in life comes from a dear friend:

With common sense and God we
can accomplish a lot

Noel

While doing some prenatals a lady told Toinette about her husband. They were busy working on the farm and he lifted a big log on his back and all of a sudden he was paralyzed. He is still very young at 31 years and his life is in ruins right now. She is far pregnant and ask for help. Well by the time we got to her again she already took Noel to hospital. I told her that we cannot do anything for him in hospital as they will not allow us. As it turns out, she had to deliver her baby and she brought Noel home.

Big was our shock when we came there. His backside was one big wound. It was the size of a plate and 2 inches deep. It was really bad with puss all over the place. They said in hospital to go and do dressings at home. How can you cure something this big??? Out with my digital and a couple hours later I was with my friend, Dr. Wong. Over a plate of food he discuss to me what we need to do. He told me to cut away all the black flesh and clean the wound. Is he simple?? I know how to slaughter sheep but that’s it. Never thought I need to do it on people. But I am up for it. He said I need to cut till I find blood. And so it were.

The next day I was ready with blades and lots of grace. So good he have no feeling in his back otherwise it would have been a big problem. I cut and cut till I found blood and then I cut again. We packed the wound with gauze and soaked it with our 3-solution consisting of Peroxide, Vinegar and sterile water. Works like a charm. Tested and proven. The next day the puss and dirt just come off and we can cut again. So it went for a long time till we could finally get the wound clean. What would I have done without the Lord and doctor friends like Wong and Dienega.

Noel is doing so good. After 1 week of dressings we can see the difference in his wound and we believe that God is again performing one is miracles. We just need to be patient enough and wait for Him to take His time. At this time I am showing Sheila what to do cause when we leave she need to do things on her own. We have so much time sharing to their family and they are so good in helping him. He have a wonderful supportive family. Please pray for him where he really needs a miracle in getting his TB meds from the mayor and provision in the house. Sitting in front of him makes you wonder why we are doing this kind of work. The hospitals are suppose to deal with this but they are not. I took Dr Dienega over and he said that Noel needs to go back to hospital. They do not want to and we are staying at home and do homecare. they told me horrible stories of what is happening inside the hospital. The doctor is suppose to clean the wounds but they rather give it to the nurses to do and they just refuse to do it, so the wound became worse inside the hospital. I shared to him the life of Junjun and showed him the pictures and he is very encourage by that. Dr Dienega is till finding out what is wrong with him. As for now we know that he have TB of the spine and we need his meds as soon as possible to fight Tb.

Want to share a last bid of testimony how good God is to all of us. He is really helping out with Noel. His backside improved so much and one hole that was about 2 inches deep cover up and is about 0,5 inches now. God is so good. That flesh is covering fast and by the time we will be back we most properly will see another person. Was there this morning and his 2 boys came home from the province. the one was sitting basically on top of me while fixing the wound. they are so cute and it was so good to see the whole family so happy. God is doing a fine job with the whole family. like a friend of mine said, We sometimes want to see a instant healing but God is interested in the person and want first the person's heart to heal and then the wound. God's ways are mystery to us but He heals that is a fact. Wish you guys could see this to believe it. But see when god totally heal him. All the glory to God!!!

We want to share to you the goodness of our Lord and the wonderful things He is doing in Noel's life. I want to include aa picture of the before and after. The guys here were praying for the wound to be completely covered by the time I arrived. Well that was a good effort cause it is going good. Almost there and we think just another month and he is better. As a family they are doing great and Noel accepted the Lord as his savior and is a changed man. It is just wonderful to see God's timing and Hand in this family. I could not believed my eyes when I look at this wound that look so bad before and now it ia so good. god is good. Please still pray for him as God is doing a miraculous job on this young man's life. Please print these pictures out and show it to some friends of how faithful our God is.

Noel is doing so good. I bought him a wheelchair and he was looking so forward to it for a very long time. He said that he wanted to ask for one but was very shy to do that as I helped him already so much. Well, that is not the issue and he got his chair. When he sat in it one brother said that he only need a sidecar now for the rest of his family. everyone was happy and his whole family came to see. Some members of a team came and fix his door for him, cause it was to small. Now he can move around in his little house. The team also took him to the nearby church where they had a service going on. He said it was nice to be out for a chance and in the last 7 months it is the first time he could do that. He's wounds are doing better and we could see that chance in him as well. Pray that God will heal him completely.

Noel is doing fine . We had a bit of a setback as he was lying down flat on his back again and the wound started to become big again. Not a lot but only a few inches again. I bought another little swim ring to put underneath his butt so that he can lay down. He enjoys the company of all the YWAM youth coming to visit and give him encouragements. they will come from time to time while I am away. It help him a lot as he need a lot of encouragement to continue on. It is now almost 10 months that he is laying in his bed unable to heal completely.

Asking Dr Wong about the situation of Noel , turned out to be a real challenge for me. He suggested that I need to cut some of the skin away in order for the wound to grow from the bottom to the top. at this time there was a flap growing over the real wound and no further growth. I brought Melissa ,a new midwife and nurse, with me, .that turned out to be a wise decision. I was very nervous and had to tell Noel to pray that we will not mess this one up. Well we had everything ready for a mini operation. After prayer I started to cut. what do I know about surgery?? I know how to slaughter a sheep!!! Well, after a little bit of blood, amazingly little, we bandage it up and retired for launch. We had to make sure that there was no bleeding because he is 2 hours away in the province and we cannot get their fast.

It was bleeding a lot after lunch, why we do not know. Open it up again we saw a couple of places where the bleeding came from. Now we have a problem. I tried to clamp the arteries but after a few minutes it did not work. then Melissa said she wonder if what will happen if we heat up a forceps with fire and burn the artery!! Well, we got a candle and heated it up and start burning. Now our nostrils were filled with the nice smell of burning flesh. o , My , I was just praying ot works. Believably and thanks to God it kept the artery closed. Just leave it as is and close the big wound. The other spots we just applied pressure and prayed over the whole wound.

God's hand was surely over Noel as he never complained and never said anything although he could hear everything. I could not even show him the wound. When I was back in Davao I bought him a cell card to activate his cell phone to contact us in case of much bleeding.

God was god and he is doing fine. the wound is much bigger and cause we had to cut away 3 cm of flesh around the wound. There are still a small wound on his bum and that is off big concern. It is about 5 cm deep. Please pray for Noel to get rid of this wounds and be healthy again.

I am still getting out to have look at Noel as well in the province. After we did a small operation on him, he is doing so much better. They are trying some herbal meds on him and he is doing much better. His wounds are healing very well. Last week when I went there I had to give him the bad tidings again. He was thinking that he only dislocated his back but that was not the case. He was paralyzed from his waist down. That was confirmed by my doctor friend. I had to encourage him that he need to make peace with his situation and that he need to look forward to his life as it is right now. He was saddened by the news but this week I could see the difference in him. God is doing an amazing work in this young man's life. Pray for them as a family as the mom need to work in the rice field because her husband is not able to. That is their only income and there are so many work to be done.

Once a while I have the privilege to go and visit him on the farm and just bring him some encouragement. He needs it a lot. Laying in your house all day long and cannot work is not good for a young man. We pray together as we encourage each other with the gospel. God is good to him and is helping them to do better. One day in heaven he will be healed again and then he will have his life back.

Many people made Noel’s healing possible. Sheila and Bob was key players as they did all the work while I was away on furlough. So need to have people that really care for others in need. Most of all we thank God for helping us in giving us wisdom and patience with Noel. Easy riding this was not, God had to take us by the hand and guide us step by step. Many teams went and visit Noel with encouragement but I think all of us were blessed by this man’s gentle spirit and his wife ability to cope with such a big thing in her family.

To God all the Glory.
